Udayana University's 166th Graduation Ceremony Released 885 Graduates, Supporting Restrictions on Plastic Waste Generation Attendees Are Asked to Bring Tumblers
Jimbaran - Udayana University (Unud) held an Academic Ceremony for the 166th Graduation Ceremony at the Widya Sabha Auditorium Building, Jimbaran Campus, Saturday (22/02/2025). At the 166th Graduation Ceremony, the Rector of Unud sent off 885 graduates and to date the total number of Udayana University graduates has reached 127,757 people.
If grouped according to educational level at the 166th Graduation Ceremony, the number of graduates from the Doctoral program was 17 people, 64 people from Masters, 78 from Specialist, 156 from Profession, 569 from Bachelor and 1 from Diploma. As a form of support for Bali Province Regional Secretary Circular Number 2 of 2025 concerning limiting single-use plastic waste, attendees were encouraged to bring tumblers to reduce the use of plastic bottles.
Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Unud Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gede Rai Maya Temaja, MP., IPU, in his report said that at the 166th Graduation Ceremony, the number of graduates who received the title With Honors or Cum Laude was 391 people. Today's graduates are dominated by women, numbering 471 people, while there are only 414 male graduates. In terms of academic achievement, the GPA of female graduates is better than that of male graduates, where the average GPA for women is 3.77 while the average GPA for men is 3.76. The average study period for women is 7.36 semesters while the study period for men is 7.17 semesters.
Through this opportunity, the party also expressed its gratitude to the families of the graduates for the trust given to Udayana University as a place for the learning process in Higher Education. The Vice Rector hopes that through the education that graduates have undertaken, they will not only master knowledge but also live intelligent lives by prioritizing a good personality at work and in society, always having dedication, innovation and collaboration in their work.
Meanwhile, the Rector of Unud, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, ST., Ph.D in his speech said that this graduation ceremony was the last academic event that was attended in pursuing a level of education at university. Graduation is a form of inauguration that students have completed education at a certain level. This is a form of Udayana University's responsibility to the Indonesian nation and state, especially in preparing quality and competitive human resources in the current global era. The moment of graduation is a moment of happiness and success not only for the graduates but also for their parents, guardians and families.
The Rector advised all graduates that graduation and the degrees they have achieved are not the end of everything, but are the beginning of new challenges in life. Apart from that, as alumni who represent Udayana University in society, the behavior of graduates in society will be a reflection of the campus. Therefore, alumni should help maintain the good name of their alma mater by always thinking, saying and doing good things.
"We hope that you can apply your knowledge in your respective professions more responsibly and with quality. Keep studying, work smartly and sincerely, and maintain the good name of your alma mater. Hopefully the knowledge that has been obtained can be implemented well for the progress of society, nation and state," said the Rector of Unud.
On this occasion, the Rector also invited alumni to play an active role in supporting the development of Udayana University through official platforms, namely the Udayana University Alumni Association (IKAYANA). Alumni participation in this organization not only strengthens relations between alumni, but also contributes to various programs aimed at improving the quality of the institution.
Apart from that, the Rector emphasized the importance of alumni involvement in filling out online questionnaire instruments in implementing tracer studies. Tracer study is a survey that aims to trace the career paths of graduates. The results of this tracer study are important evaluation material for universities in designing strategies to improve the quality of education, so that alumni are expected to participate actively for the progress of the alma mater.
