Groundbreaking for the Construction of Hotels and Supporting Facilities for the Tourism Laboratory of Udayana University
Badung, 15 December 2024 - In order to increase the competency of graduates, it is necessary to improve learning facilities and infrastructure, especially for learning and training in the tourism sector. Based on this, Udayana University (Unud) in collaboration with PT Bali International Trade Center (BITC) held the groundbreaking for the construction of a hotel which is planned as a tourism laboratory for Unud students.
This effort is also to maximize the use of Udayana University assets in supporting the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. Other goals are also expected to increase non-academic sources of income for Udayana University, improve the regional economy and have a positive impact on society.
This event was attended by the leadership at Udayana University and also attended by the Kuta Police Chief, Kuta Subdistrict Head, Kuta Village Head, Kuta LPM. This hotel construction project is a strategic step in utilizing state assets more productively, with the aim of increasing sources of non-academic income for Unud and new investments for cooperation partners. Through collaboration between Udayana University and PT BITC, the construction of this hotel through a build-to-handover mechanism will be carried out by prioritizing the principles of sustainability and concern for the environment.
This groundbreaking marks the start of the construction phase of the project which is expected to be completed on time and ready for operation next year. This hotel is designed with modern facilities and high comfort, which is expected to be the best educational vehicle for students and able to attract local and international tourists as well as becoming a major lodging destination in the region.
In his speech, the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, ST., Ph.D said that the construction of this hotel is part of Udayana University's commitment to optimizing state property assets, where in the future this hotel can be used as an educational laboratory in the tourism sector for Udayana University students.
With this laboratory, students are expected to gain practical experience and deeper knowledge about the tourism industry, which in turn will improve the quality of education and graduates produced.
The groundbreaking event ended with a joint prayer so that the construction of this hotel can run smoothly, on time, and provide maximum benefits for all parties involved.
