ONLINE LEARNING "SOLUTION INCREASING HIGH EDUCATION APK IN INDONESIA"

Denpasar - Friday, July 27, 2018, held at the Office of UPBJJ-UT Denpasar held a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Open University and Udayana University, Ganesha University of Education, Mahasaraswati University and STIMIK Primakara. The implementation of cooperation with several parties conducted by UT this time is a follow up on the instruction of the Minister of Research and Technology to improve the Higher Education Gross (APK) of Higher Education in Indonesia. In the occasion, the Rector of Udayana University was represented by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Information, Prof. Dr. Ir. Dr. Ida Bagus Wyasa Putra, SH., M.Hum.

Rector of Open University, Prof. Drs. Ojat Darojat, M.Bus., Ph.D said that this activity is an implementation of one of the strategic programs of Kemenristek Dikti to increase the Higher Education Participation Rate (APK) of higher education in Indonesia, which is 18 to 23 years old which is currently only 31.6% lag from another country. The average APK of the Asian region is 40% and is expected to be achieved by Indonesia in 2022. Achievement of APK is still difficult to achieve considering conventional universities conduct the learning process through face to face, while to receive large numbers of students are still hit on several issues including the number of ratios lecturers and students. For that one need to resolve the distance learning scheme.

Open University (UT), which has been experienced for 34 years as a long-distance learning and experienced provider, is the hope of the Minister of Research and Technology to enable UT to work together with all universities to jointly have the capacity to organize distance education. UT is expected to share the experience to do so, through the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi cooperation it is hoped that the follow-up will conceal on the distance learning (online learning). With the advancement of technology enabling virtual learning and the participants that follow this learning greatly increased in this era of fourth industrial revolution. Many high school graduates are interested in studying online and today almost all universities in Indonesia have established cooperation with UT in sharing knowledge to implement distance learning.

Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Information of Udayana University, Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Wyasa Putra, SH., M.Hum on the occasion, represented the Rector of Unud giving appreciation to the Rector of UT who has established cooperation for the development of distance learning at Udayana University. In the future, this cooperation is expected to provide a foundation to enhance the role of Unud in meeting the needs of the community especially in terms of learning. The Vice Rector also hopes that the Rector of UT can visit Udayana University to provide inspiration related to distance learning. (HM)
