Rector of Udayana University inaugurated the portrait statue of PROF. DR. IDA BAGUS MANTRA

Denpasar - Faculty of Cultural Knowledge Udayana University held the inauguration of Portrait Statue Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra, Monday (08/05/2017) in the Room of Widya Sabha Mandala Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra Kampus Denpasar. This event was attended by the Rector of Udayana University, Mayor of Denpasar, Consul General of India, Mrs. Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra, Dewa Beratha, Representative of Badung Regency, Representative of several Rectors of PTN / PTS, Deputy Rectors of Unud, Deans of Udayana University and entire academic community of Faculty of Cultural Knowledge.

Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Knowledge Unud, Prof. Dr. Ni Luh Sutjiati Beratha, MA in his speech said the inauguration ceremony was held to coincide with the date of birth of Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra (Alm). The inauguration of this statue was as a momentum to honor his service and dedication to the Faculty of Cultural Knowledge which is the oldest faculty in Unud. Further Prof. Sutjiati conveyed Prof. Ida Bagus Mantra is the first Professor at Udayana University, he was also the first Rector of Udayana University and also served as the Dean of the Faculty of Letters of Udayana University and has an important role in establishing a state university in Bali. Through the inauguration of portrait statue Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra is expected academic community better understand the history of the establishment of Udayana University.

Dr. Ir. Ida Bagus Wira Wibawa Mantra as the representative of Prof. family. Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra in his impression and message expressed his appreciation to the creators and executors of making this statue. This moment is expected to be a memorial for the institution to reminisce with the thoughts of Ida Bagus Mantra. Hopefully his thoughts become a source of inspiration for the entire academic community Faculty of Cultura Knowledge IB Wira Wibawa also conveyed that Bali is not separated from the culture, and the establishment of FIB becomes the key in preserving Balinese culture.

Rector of Unud, Prof. Dr. Dr. Ketut Suastika, Sp.PD-KEMD in his speech expressed his pride to Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra who has become a leader in Bali and a role model for the people of Bali. His ideas and inspiration, what he has done and his vision needs to be championed and the duty of the younger generation to build this country. The Rector also expressed his appreciation to the Dean of FIB who has pioneered this activity.

In this activity also carried out the reading of a brief history of Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra by prof. I Wayan Ardika and awarded presentation to the sculptor Dr. Tjokorda Udiyana Nindhia Pemayun by the Dean of FIB as well as the submission of duplicate statue to the family of Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Mantra.(PR)
