IndonesiaLPPM Unud Care About Songan Society Disaster, Kintamani, Bangli
On Wednesday, February 15th, 2017, Institute for Research and Community Service or in Indonesian Language it is known as ‘Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat (LPPM)’ Unud carried out care activity about disaster that showed an empathy of all the academicians of Udayana University and concerned about the disaster caused by landslides that resulted in 7 fatalities in Songan, Kintamani, Bangli. The activity of disaster awareness led by the Chairman LPPM Udayana University, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Nyoman Gde Antara, M.Eng. along with 50 volunteers which consisted of faculty and staff of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Tourism Faculty at Udayana University. Prof. Nyoman Gde Antara conveyed that Udayana University and Songan village has a very close relationship because Songan Village is one of the purposes of the implementation students of the Community Service Program which is known as ‘Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN)’. Almost every year Unud fielded students to do KKN at the village Songan. The activity of care disasster in this time was also one form of community service activities Univeritas Udayana, which are the primary duty and function of LPPM Unud.
In the activity of disaster awareness, Universitas Udayana donated food packages, stoves, gas and other household appliances that were presented by the Chairman LPPM Unud to the victims and assisted by the Rural Songan. Songan village residents who were the victims greatly appreciate the assistance provided by the Udayana University.
After a disaster, LPPM Unud through the Disaster Mitigation Research Center, headed by Dr. Nyoman Sutarga will undertake environmental rehabilitation programs involving student service learning to perform repairs including repair of drains and tree planting, so that the local residents could return to normal as it should. For the next, Unud expect a good coordination with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) that can plunge more quickly to provide first aid when disaster strikes.(PR).
