Having 94 Accredited Journals, Udayana University Provides Training and Mentoring

Udayana University (Unud) through the Journal and Scientific Publication Unit (JUPI) held Training and Mentoring for Unud Nationally Accredited Journals and Global Indexation, located in the Hall of the Postgraduate Building, Sudirman Campus, Denpasar, Tuesday (26/9/23). This training presented speaker Yoris Adi Maretta, M.Pd guided by moderator Alvin Yesaya, ST. M. Eng.

JUPI Chairman Gusti Ayu Candra Dharmayanti, ST., MSc., PhD in his speech said that apart from being attended by journal managers within Unud, this training was also attended by journal managers and invitees from outside Unud including Undiknas, Warmadewa University, Mahasaraswati University, UNHI, UHN I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa, as well as other universities.

In journal development, we cannot stand alone, for this reason we need other journal managers to be able to develop together and from here try to collaborate to be able to exchange articles, so that our articles do not only come from one institution, especially for journals. which are still newly developing and which are still not SINTA accredited or internationally accredited, and also to be able to increase their accreditation ranking.

Likewise with global indexation, we want Unud to also have a ranking in the number of journals that have been internationally indexed, because by being internationally indexed, the SINTA automatically also increases. This really requires hard work from the journal manager. "We at JUPI continue to be committed to providing good mentoring services which we routinely do every year, so we hope that more journals will become international journals," he said.

Meanwhile the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gede Rai Maya Temaja, MP., IPU in his speech said that Journal accreditation is an official recognition of the quality assurance of Scientific Journals by assessing the fairness of manuscript screening, appropriateness of management, and timeliness of Journal publication, and accreditation rankings indicate the quality of a journal.

Currently, at Unud there are 94 journals that have been accredited with SINTA ranking: S1 = 2 Journals; S2= 11 Journals; S3= 27 Journals; S4= 33 Journals; S5= 20 journals and S6= 1 journal. With Web of science indexation of 3 journals, Scopus 2 journals and DOAJ 39 journals.

The management of this journal needs to continue to be improved to achieve a higher accreditation predicate. This requires serious handling, therefore the leadership of Unud really appreciates and supports the initiative of the JUPI team to hold Nationally accredited Unud Journals Training and Mentoring, for the purpose of assisting the preparation of several journals that have entered the reaccreditation period and several new or unaccredited journals that need to prepare themselves to submit SINTA accreditation.

In addition, to increase the ranking/grade of the journal, an event was held for the Development of Unud Journals towards Global Reputation: Global Indexation Strategy, with the aim of providing strategies for journal managers to improve the quality of their governance towards journals capable of being indexed internationally.

From this activity, it is hoped that journal managers will become more enthusiastic, so that in the coming year, it is hoped that in the coming year, journals at Unud and journals that have not yet been accredited can be accredited soon, and journals that are currently undergoing reaccreditation can rise in the SINTA ranking, and more journals will be indexed globally.
