2nd BROCA (Bali Neurosurgery Clinical Update)

 

On Saturday and Sunday, 26-27 August 2023, the Neurosurgery Specialist Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, UNUD/RSUP Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah has organized the 2nd BROCA (Bali Neurosurgical Clinical Update) 2023 event. This activity is divided into Symposium on Saturday, 26 August 2023 at Dr. Room. A. A. Made Djelantik Sudirman Campus FK UNUD & Workshop on Sunday, 27 August 2023 at Aesculap Academy, Bali International Training and Development Center (BITDec), Tabanan.

 

At the opening of the symposium, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Komang Januartha Putra Pinatih, M.Kes, was present personally to open the event. In his remarks he appreciated the FK UNUD Neurosurgery Specialist Study Program and strongly supported the holding of national scale seminars like this, and it is hoped that this will increase the understanding and skills of General Practitioners as well as Residents in providing health services for the community both at Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Hanging out or at their respective places of duty. Chairman of the 2nd BROCA committee, Dr. dr. I Wayan Niryana, M.Kes., M.Kes., Sp.BS, Subsp.N-Vas, in his remarks said that this BROCA activity had been held regularly since 2019 under a different name, but was stopped due to a pandemic. This activity has started to be held again since last year until this year with a different topic each year.

 

The symposium activities on the first day were divided into 3 material presentation sessions consisting of 4 to 5 materials then followed by a discussion session. The first session was moderated directly by Prof. Dr. dr. Sri Maliawan, Sp.BS, Subsp.N-Ped, FICS, the second session was moderated by Prof. Dr. dr. Tjokorda Gde Bagus Mahadewa, M.Kes., Sp.BS, Subsp.TB, FICS, FINSS, and the third session was moderated by dr. I Putu Ananta Wijaya Sabudi, M.Ked.Klin., Sp.BS. This activity was attended by a total of 109 participants. In addition, an E-Poster Presentation session was also held which was attended by 31 people with 32 different titles.

 

The workshop activities on the second day consisted of a workshop for Residents and a workshop for General Practitioners. Each workshop consists of 3 material topics which are divided into lecture sessions and hands on workshop sessions. This activity was attended by a total of 46 participants, consisting of 26 General Practitioners and Medical Students, as well as 20 Residents of Neurosurgery and Anesthesia Neurosurgery. The participants seemed so enthusiastic in participating in the whole series of events from the beginning to the end of the Workshop
