Promovendus I Wayan Gayun Widharma, S.E., M.Si. completed his education in the Doctor of Management Science Program with a study period of 2 years and 7 months. The theme of the dissertation raised by the Promovendus is "Exploration of the Consequences of Career Transitions of Lecturers and Education Personnel in Higher Education Institutions". In his dissertation, Promovendus studied and examined the dynamic career transitions that occur in higher education institutions. The literature review shows that the topic of career transition in the context of higher education organizations has not been widely discussed. The career transition of Lecturers and Education Personnel has brought about role changes. Adaptation difficulties and decreased performance in the main career are the focus of exploration. This study aims to explain the adaptation experience and the impact of the career transition of Lecturers and Education Personnel.
This research is the first study of the career transition of Lecturers and Education Personnel in the context of Indonesian higher education institutions. The results showed that adaptability plays an important role for individual success through the outcome phase. Lecturers are more adaptive than education personnel. Career transition makes individual performance of lecturers slow down while education personnel have difficulty performing due to the incompatibility of job descriptions with the place of assignment.
