Agricultural development is an integral part of national development which aims to improve the welfare of farmers. Horticulture is one of the potential agricultural sub-sectors and is encouraged to improve the welfare of farmers and the regional economy. Chili is an interesting horticultural product to develop because it is classified as a commodity with high economic value, is one of the leading national vegetable commodities and is used as a spice for most dishes in Indonesia.

 

 

On this happy day Tuesday, January 17, 2023 promovendus I Wayan Wijana, S.Sos., M.Sc. raised the topic of his dissertation: Analysis of Determinants of Welfare of Chili Farmers in Badung Regency.

This study aims to analyze: (1) the effect of the Government's Role, Social Capital and Empowerment of farmers on the performance of chili farming; (2) the influence of the role of government, social capital, farmer empowerment and farming performance on the welfare of chili farmers; and (3) analyze the indirect effect of the Government's Role, Social Capital and Empowerment of farmers on the welfare of farmers through the performance of chili farming in Badung Regency.

The results of this study conclude that (1) the government's role has a positive and significant effect on the performance of chili farming in Badung Regency; (2) The role of government, farmer empowerment and farming performance have a positive and significant effect on the welfare of chili farmers, but social capital has a positive and insignificant effect on the welfare of chili farmers in Badung Regency; (3) Indirectly the Role of Government, Social Capital and Empowerment of farmers have a significant effect on the Welfare of chili farmers through the Performance of farming in Badung Regency, it can be seen that the Performance of Farming mediates partially (partial mediation) social capital and empowers farmers and mediates in full (full mediation) Social Capital on the Welfare of chili farmers in Badung Regency.

 

 

 

The Doctoral Promotion Session was held offline, where the Promoter from Promovendus was Prof. Prof. Dr. Drs. Made Kembar Sri Budhi, M.P., and Co-promoter Prof. Dr. Nyoman Djinar Setiawina, S.E., M.S. and Co-promoter II is Dr. Nyoman Mahaendra Yasa, S.E., M.Si. This exam was led by the Head of the Session who on this occasion was led by the Coordinating Study Program, Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Yuliarmi, S.E., M.P. Promovendus as Head of the Badung District Agriculture Office. Promovendus successfully passed the exam with the title of Very Satisfactory.
