COMBINATION OF QUANTITATIVE-QUALITITATIVE ANALYSIS GENERAL COURSE DOCTORAL STUDY PROGRAM OF ECONOMICS FACULTY OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS UDAYANA UNIVERSITY

Prof. Akhmad Fauzi, Ph.D from the Faculty of Economics and Management, IPB University, explained the Combination Quantitative-Qualitative Analysis material at the PDIE FEB UNUD Public Lecture on Monday, August 29, 2022. The topic was raised based on the Lucretius problem which is often a classic problem for researchers where researchers rely on methods he/they have used to solve complex problems in the future. Where actually researchers must be aware that Research tools as a "Swiss army knife" that is to solve research problems can use a combination of research tools.

Also explained about the Range Factor in his book David Epstein explores that facing the challenges of the 21st century requires a diversity of knowledge. Diverse Thinking is required to survive and succeed. Diverse thinking is needed because the complexity of the problems faced today are increasingly complex and diverse. There is no such thing as a master key that opens any doors. It would be impossible to rely on a single tool that could solve all problems, including research.

The Paradox of Data in research can be likened to a flood, where we are flooded with data but we cannot make good use of the data. Research developments are triggered by "the common" and "tools". Management economics research is more varied due to the development of increasingly diverse and growing analytical tools. The growth of “the common” (R, Github, online software, etc.) reduces the limitations on the use of analytical tools. This development also allows researchers to get out of the syndrome of “Metodolatry and NHST” (Grice, 2011). Research based on Policy Design, Complex Causality is becoming more developed. The use of strategic analysis has also become a fairly popular choice and according to needs. Some of the Tools for Data analysis include Stats/Econometrics, PATN, CA/MCA, OOM (Observation Oriented Modeling), Orange and many more.
