On August 20, 2022, a team of Udayana University architecture students won first place in the international-scale Bamboo Competition 2022 organized by Warmadewa University. This competition is a series of activities from Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Greater Bay Area and ASEAN International Colleges and Universities Construction Competition. There are two stages of judging in this Bamboo Competition: Internal judging by Warmadewa University lecturers and judging by 11 judges from Indonesia and China. The Bamboo Competition, which will be held in 2022, takes the theme “half pavilion”, which can be interpreted as a building split in two.

The MAYURA team was supervised by Mr. Antonius Karel Muktiwibowo, ST., MT., PhD. consisting of 8 students of architecture class 2020, namely: I Made Rio Sastra Erawan; Ida Bagus Mahardika Wikananda; Ida Bagus Renal Dipa Isaka; I Ketut Bagus Aryawibawa; Made Pande Aji Satria Angkasa; I Nyoman Aditya Prawita Putra; I Made Aditya Putra Januarta; and Gede Surya Mahajaya. The MAYURA team won first place by presenting a work entitled "Mayura: When the Beauty Shines Brighter". The pavilion is designed to take the basic shape of a peacock feather which is then divided into two according to the theme of this year's bamboo competition. In this competition, the student team prepared three presentation materials, namely mockups, posters, and object samples for 1:1 scale construction details. As the winner of the 2022 Bamboo Competition, the MAYURA Team had the opportunity to present their work in an international exhibition at Guangzhou Nansha Bird Park, China, from September 15 to December 10.

In addition to the MAYURA Team, architecture students who are members of the KUBU SISYA Team, have also made it into the top 12 nominations who are entitled to advance to the second judging stage. The KUBU SISYA team which was also mentored by Mr. Antonius Karel Muktiwibowo, ST., MT., PhD. took the Tridatu concept as the basic concept of the pavilion. Even though they haven't won yet, the KUBU SISYA team won the "Best Poster" award at the 2022 Bamboo Competition. The achievements obtained by the two teams of Udayana University architecture students are expected to encourage other students to participate in the competition and excel according to their interests and talents.
