Udayana University Senate Names Five Candidates for Rector of Udayana University 2024 - 2028
Jimbaran - The Senate of Udayana University (Unud) held a Plenary Session with the agenda of Determining the 2024 - 2028 Rector Unud Candidates and Drawing Serial Numbers for the 2024-2028 Rector of Unud Candidates at the Bangsa Room, Jimbaran Campus Rectorate Building, Monday (26/8/2024). The session was chaired directly by the Chairman of the Unud Senate, Prof. I Gede Mahardika accompanied by Senate Secretary Prof. Ketut Budi Susrusa.
Besides being attended by Senate members, the session was also attended by the Rector's Election Committee chaired by Prof. I Gusti Putu Bagus Sukaarjawa and the prospective Rector candidates who have registered. There are five prospective candidates who have registered and have been declared to have met the requirements.
Chair of the 2024-2028 Unud Rector Selection Committee Prof. I Gusti Putu Bagus Sukaarjawa explained that in the Udayana University Senate Session five Rector candidates had been determined who had met the requirements with the serial number of each drawing result, namely serial number (1) Prof. Dr. drh. I Wayan Suardana, M.Si, (2) Dr. Drs. I Made Satriya Wibawa, M.Si, (3) Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, Ph.D, (4) Dr. I Nyoman Sumerta Miwada, S.Pt., M.P. and (5) Dr. Drs. I Wayan Suardiana, M. Hum. He also said that the selection and selection process for prospective candidates had run smoothly.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Unud Senate, Prof. I Gede Mahardika said that previously a registration stage had been carried out where the first registration produced four prospective candidates but one prospective candidate did not meet the requirements so only three met the requirements. In accordance with the regulations, there must be a minimum of four candidates, that's why we are extending it. After the extension there were two people who registered so that if in the first stage we got three who met the requirements, then in the second stage of the extension there were two prospective candidates who registered and who had been evaluated turned out to meet the requirements. So that way we already have five potential candidates.
These five prospective candidates mean that according to the regulations they have met the requirements and are therefore brought to the Senate Meeting and confirmed in the Senate Session in accordance with existing regulations. The five prospective candidates are determined by the Senate and later these results will be made in the minutes sent to the Ministry. Furthermore, these five prospective candidates will be filtered into three which are planned to be held on September 3 2024.
"Of course our hope is that this process can run well, in accordance with existing regulations, and I have repeatedly asked fellow Senate members to let us work together to make this process a success, this is not my personal wish but our collective wish. "I think, not only the Senate but perhaps the entire academic community wants the Rector election process to run smoothly, coolly, calmly, without violating existing regulations," said the Chairman of the Senate.
The Chairman of the Senate also added that whoever is chosen to be Rector is what we appreciate and whoever is chosen to be Rector, we hope will also be able to protect the entire academic community so that the Rector can truly utilize all the potential that exists to support the progress of the University.
To draw the serial numbers for prospective candidates, because one of the prospective candidates was unable to attend, namely Dr. I Nyoman Sumerta Miwada, S.Pt., M.P., according to the agreement at the meeting to take serial numbers, was represented by the Senate Secretary.
