FOUR INTERVIEWEES / ARCHITECTURE RESEARCHERS IN SAMARTA 2017

Denpasar - Architecture Program Faculty of Engineering Udayana University held a National Seminar on Architecture and layout (SAMARTA) with Theme "Architecture, Human and Built Environment", Friday (6/10) at Nusantara Room Agrokompleks Building, Campus Sudirman Denpasar. The seminar was held in collaboration with the Indonesian Architects Association of Indonesia and the Indonesian Environmental Research Institute. The seminar was attended by academics, researchers, practitioners, government, non-profit organizations and developers who interested in sharing the wealth of Indonesian architecture in maintaining the nation's identity from the effects of globalization.

Informant in the field of architecture was presented in the seminar, consisted of Prof. Dr. Ir. Josef Prijotomo, M.Arch, a researcher in the field of History and Architectural Theory of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology Surabaya with the topic "Archipelago and Development of Indonesian Architecture", Prof. Ir. Antariksa, M. Eng., Ph.D., a researcher in history and architecture preservation, Brawijaya University Malang with the topic "Understanding the Locality in Architecture of Built Environment", Prof. Ir. Sudaryono, M. Eng., Ph.D., researcher of traditional settlement of Gajah Mada University with topic "Phenomenology Approach for Exploration of Local Architecture Bali", and Prof. Dr. Ing Ir. Widjaja Martokusumo, researcher in architecture and urban design, urban conservation and revitalization of Bandung Institute of Technology with the topic "Cultural Heritage Conservation: Notes for the Concept of Authenticity and Integrity in Architectural Preservation".

Dean of Faculty of Engineering Unud, Prof. Ir. Ngakan Putu Gede Suardana, MT., Ph.D said that this seminar was the first of SAMARTA and all other study programs are expected to hold similar seminars. This seminar was also a forum to build a network between academia and researchers with developers.  Indonesia is a country rich in architecture, SAMARTA can be an interesting discussion medium in maintaining the character of the nation. In the seminar, a parallel discussion was held which discussed various titles of papers that related to the field of architecture. The papers discussed that later are expected to be published to an internationally accredited journal.

Rector of Unud, Prof. Dr. dr. A.A Raka Sudewi, Sp.S (K) conveyed the institution of having tupoksi to develop science, and this seminar meaned to implement it. It also presented the experts in the field of architecture and expected to share knowledge and experience for participants. The seminar was also expected to be a media in preserving architecture which is one of the wealth that owned by Indonesia. In the future, it is expected that this seminar can be carried out continuously, and the resulting scientific works can be published both in national and international journals because publication is one of the obligations of lecturers in accordance with the mandate of law.
