ARCHAEOLOGY STUDY PROGRAM PARTICIPATES IN WORLD CULTURE FORUM 2016

Megawati Soekarno Putri, who was accompanied by Indonesian and International officials when opening the event of World Culture Forum at the Convention Center Bali Nusa Dua, Badung Bali.

Nusa Dua – World Culture Forum 2016 or commonly abbreviated as WCF has been officially held on Thursday, October 13, at the Convention Center Bali Nusa Dua, Badung Bali. This event was opened by the beating of a gong by Megawati Soekarno Putri as a representative of the Indonesian President, Joko Widodo, and was accompanied by the National and International ministers and officials such as Muhadjir Efendi, Iran Ali Jannati, Sualiki Neemia, Hilmar Farid and Syabash Khan. It was attended by approximately 1.307 participants from 63 countries, which was held on October 10 - 14, 2016. The theme of WCF 2016 is “Culture for an Inclusive Sustainable Planet” by emphasizing the importance of culture as a foundation of sustainable development.

Megawati, in her speech, said that a culture is a means of struggle to achieve the true independence of every nation. The nation that is truly independent is a nation that has reached Trisakti: political sovereignty, economic self-reliance, and cultural identity.


The students of Archaeology Study Program while on duty to keep the exhibition of World Culture Forum at the booth of the Preservation of Ancient Human Site.

On this occasion, Archaeology Study Program of Udayana University attended this event as the delegation of Bali for its cooperation with Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BPCB) Bali. There were three participants who became the delegations namely Rochtri Agung Bawono, S.S.,M.Si. (a lecturer of Archaeology Study Program), as well as two students named Fikri and Arga. Besides, Students Association of Archaeology also actively participated during the event. Some students came as volunteers at the exhibition; they were Zahratunnisa Deban, Viktor N Siburian, Jofel Eliezer Malonda, Sekar Rizky Amalia, Linda Nurjagad and Ikbal Adikusumah.

“The event is good, we can learn from the culture in the international environment, meet with the people who are representatives of the National and International countries such as Kalimantan, Poland, Rome, Thailand, Philippines, Singapore, Australia, and the others. This is a great experience. In this event, we can exchange our ideas related to the culture, both in the country and abroad. There are 16 exhibitions of WCF such as the exhibition of Archipelago Spice Track, National Museum, Romania, Borobudur Conservation Center, Wonderful Indonesian Spa, Europalia, Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Values, Institute for the Preservation of Ancient Human Site,” Jofel Eliezer Malonda as the Chairperson of Archaeology Students Association said.
