Opening of the Renewed #AussieBanget Corner at Udayana University, Bali
On January 14 2025, the Australian Consul-General in Bali, Jo Stevens, together with the Rector of Udayana, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D, opened the updated #AussieBanget Corner at Udayana University.
The updated #AussieBanget Corner is located in the central library of Udayana University's Jimbaran campus and will be a permanent place for students to explore Australian books and resources, as well as access information about studying in Australia and the Australia Awards scholarship program. It will also serve as a gathering place on campus for Australia-related activities. This corner is one of several #AussieBanget Corners throughout Indonesia.
In his remarks at the opening ceremony, Consul-General Stevens said he was very pleased to be able to collaborate with Udayana University in this #AussieBanget Corner, which he hopes will be a useful and informative place for students to learn more about Australia.
Australia has the longest overseas scholarship program in Indonesia, which has supported tens of thousands of Indonesians to study in Australia. The prestigious Australia Awards Indonesia program offers a variety of scholarships, including for PhD, Masters, split-site Masters and short course programs.
"The people-to-people relationship between Australia and Indonesia is the foundation on which we work together, to support the stability, security and prosperity of our shared region," added Consul-General Stevens.
Rector Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana said in his speech that #AussieBanget Corner is not just a physical space, but is a symbol of the strong ties between Indonesia and Australia. "We are very enthusiastic about the future opportunities this place will offer in strengthening relations between our two countries," said the Rector.
