Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University Holds Competency Certification in the Field of Culture, Collaborating with LSP P2 Culture Kemendikbudristek

Denpasar - The Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University (Unud) held Competency Certification in the Field of Culture at the City of Aventus Hotel Denpasar, 15-17 October 2024. This competency certification activity was the result of collaboration between Udayana University and LSP P2 Culture, Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology.

Committee Chair Kristiawan in his report said that the professional certification activity was Udayana University's response to the increasing need for experts or expertise in the field of culture. Competency Certification in the Field of Culture is also in line with supporting the vision and mission of Udayana University towards PTNBH, Superior, Independent and Cultured. This certification is also an actualization of the needs and demands for superior teaching staff who are ready to dedicate their competencies for progress, sustainability and cultural resilience that we need to encourage.

This certification activity was attended by 23 participants, all of whom came from teaching staff in 4 selected faculties within Udayana University. 14 teaching staff from the Faculty of Humanities, 3 teaching staff from the Faculty of Engineering, 5 teaching staff from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, and 1 person from the Faculty of Law. This certification activity also involved 4 filers from LSP P2 Culture, and 5 assessors from Yogyakarta and Jakarta.

This activity will be carried out in 3 different locations, namely at the Hotel City of Aventus Denpasar, then the Bali Museum and Puri Agung Kesiman. Three locations were chosen because they tailor practical testing to the needs of each substance.

"All funding for this activity comes from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology through Udayana University. The hope is that through this activity, the competency of teaching staff within Udayana University will increase, increase and be ready to compete in the global world," said Kristiawan.

Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Unud Dr. I Nyoman Aryawibawa in his speech said that this was part of the activities of the State University Revitalization Program (PR PTN) in the field of culture assigned to the Faculty of Humanities, Unud. There are four sector schemes implemented, namely the cultural heritage sector scheme, the tradition sector scheme, the intangible heritage sector scheme and the museum sector scheme.

"We understand very well that the teaching staff at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences specializes in the field of culture, but the implementation of this certification cannot be carried out at the Faculty of Humanities alone, so coordination is carried out and involves several other related faculties. We hope that all participants can pass the certification and boost IKU's achievements," said the Dean.

Meanwhile, the Rector of Unud, Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana in his speech emphasized the importance of this competency certification in terms of increasing competency and also the KPI which is related to the number of teaching staff who have this competency certificate. Apart from that, this is also part of the PTN PR program where one of the programs is to increase IKU achievements at the recipient university.

The Rector hopes that this activity can increase the university's KPI which is a performance contract with the Ministry. Preparing competencies that have certification is very important for carrying out future research, especially in the field of culture. In the future, various competencies will also be developed in other fields according to budget availability. The Rector also hopes that more teaching staff will have this competency certification.

Head of LSP P2 Culture, Ministry of Education and Culture, Dra. Sri Hartini, M.Si said that in this certification there are no words passed or not passed but Competent or Not Competent and her party believes that all participants are competent and just have to prove it to the assessors in the assessment process. She asked participants to make preparations according to the scheme they will take.
