UMCC Faculty of Law, Udayana University Holds National Moot Court Competition Tjokorda Raka Dherana Cup VIII
Denpasar - Udayana Moot Court Community (UMCC) Faculty of Law, Udayana University (Unud) held the 2024 Tjokorda Raka Dherana VIII Cup National Moot Court Competition on 19 and 20 October 2024. This competition took the theme Abyakta Ing Widya: Embodying the Values of Knowledge In order to create jurisprudence with integrity as a driving wheel in making it happen Countering Transnational Crime.
The opening event took place at the Ksirarnawa Art Center Building, Denpasar, Friday (18/10/2024). The opening was marked by the planting of the Kayonan by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs at Unud.
There are 13 universities participating in this competition and 1 university as observer, namely Sam Ratulangi University. The participating universities are Diponegoro University, Gadjah Mada University, University of Indonesia, Airlangga University, Brawijaya University, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Indonesian Christian University, Mataram University, Halu Oleo University, Warmadewa University, Pattimura University, and Jambi University.
Chairman of Committee I Ketut Suriya Dharma Susila in his report said that this activity was attended by 13 delegates and 1 observer from various universities in Indonesia. In this competition, participants are also invited to enjoy the beauty of the island of Bali on a city tour agenda on October 21 2024. They hope that this activity can run smoothly as expected.
General Chairperson of the Udayana Moot Court Community, I Made Andana, said that this competition is a work program that is held every two years, generally in even-numbered years at the Faculty of Law with the Udayana Moot Court Community as a moot court community. This year's activity, which is also known as NMCC TRD, can be carried out fully offline, unlike previous years. In accordance with the theme of this year's competition, transnational crime is raised because Bali's position as an international tourist attraction means that it is often the target of crimes known as transnational or cross-border crimes.
Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Putu Gede Arya Sumerta Yasa in his speech expressed his thanks to participants from various universities who had taken part in this competition. He hopes that while participating in the competition, participants will receive guidance in the learning process. Hopefully the participants will also get something more than what they usually get in class. This competition is also a medium for preparing oneself as a legal advisor in upholding justice. Participants are also expected to be sportsmanlike in taking part in this competition.
Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Dr. Gusti Ngurah Alit Susanta Wirya in his speech said that the Faculty of Law, Udayana University, was again holding the Tjokorda Raka Dherana Cup National Moot Court Competition for the eighth time in the realm of criminal moot court. The choice of the big name Tjokorda Raka Dherana will still be immortalized as the name of this competition. This is due to a sense of pride in Tjokorda Raka Dherana's role in the world of education, especially at the Faculty of Law, Udayana University, which deserves appreciation.
"During his lifetime, he was very diligent in resolving traditional problems in Bali. So, he was highly respected not only among academics, but also politicians. He was very famous and contributed to the quality of a Bachelor of Laws at Udayana University. Thus, it is fitting that his name be confirmed as the name in the National Moot Court Competition for the Tjokorda Raka Dherana VIII Cup," said the Deputy Chancellor.
This competition is also a forum for Law Faculty Students throughout Indonesia to learn to understand procedural practices in the legal field. By participating in this competition, students are expected to be able to elaborate knowledge, skills and experience among Law Faculty students as prospective jurists who will be directly involved in society and the world of justice.
