FPMHD Udayana University Holds Pawintenan Saraswati Ceremony for Hindu Students Class of 2024, 22nd Upanayana Student Series
The Hindu Dharma Student Fraternity Forum (FPMHD) of Udayana University (Unud) held the Pawintenan Saraswati Ceremony for Unud Hindu Students class of 2024 in a series of 22nd Upanayana Student activities. The Pawintenan ceremony was held at the Maha Widya Saraswati Temple, Bukit Jimbaran Campus, Monday (16/9/2024).
The Upanayana Student Activity is one of the work programs initiated by FPMHD Unud for new students, especially those of the Hindu faith who have taken part in a series of Introduction to Campus Life activities for New Students (PKKMB) at both University and Faculty levels.
This activity is a self-purification ceremony by asking for blessings in a formal manner before Ida Sang Hyang Widhi in the manifestation of Sang Hyang Aji Saraswati when we as students will study at Udayana University.
Mahasisya Upanayana is an important part of the Hindu tradition in Bali and must continue to be preserved as part of the spiritual education of the younger generation of Hindus. This sacred ceremony marks the beginning of a person becoming a student who has the right to receive sacred education, both in religious and academic knowledge.
In this Pawintenan Saraswati ceremony, the participants who are new students receive Karawista which is tied to the head. Karawista is a symbol of the radiant power of the Tri Lingga and Tri Murti in controlling the mind so that the mind is ready to receive knowledge. Through Upanayana, new students are expected to not only become experts in worldly knowledge, but also in deep spiritual understanding.
