Collaboration in the Field of Marine Research, Udayana University Signs MoU with the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Science
Rector of Udayana University (Unud), Prof. Ngakan Putu Gede Suardana, officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Science (IOCAS), which marked the start of strategic cooperation in the field of marine research on Friday (6/9/2024) at the Udayana University Rectorate Building .
This collaboration covers various important fields, including Physical Oceanography and Climate Change, Marine Ecology and Environmental Science, Marine and Environmental Geology, Marine Biology and Biodiversity Conservation, Marine Geophysics, as well as Deep Sea studies whose technicalities will be carried out by the Faculty of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Udayana University.
In his speech, the Rector of Udayana University emphasized that this collaboration was a strategic step in an effort to improve the quality of research and community service in the maritime sector. This collaboration is also expected to make a significant contribution to efforts to preserve the marine environment and mitigate the impacts of climate change.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dr Fan Wang, stated that collaboration with Udayana University is part of their global initiative to expand research and innovation in the field of oceanography. The two institutions agreed to carry out various joint activities such as researcher exchanges, scientific publications, international seminars and joint research projects.
This collaboration between Udayana University and IOCAS will combine the expertise and resources of both institutions, with the aim of making a significant contribution to the global scientific community and sustainable management of marine resources. Through joint research, knowledge exchange and the development of new technologies, both institutions are committed to increasing our understanding of the oceans and supporting conservation efforts and mitigating the impacts of climate change in coastal areas.
This partnership not only reflects Udayana University's commitment to academic excellence and research innovation, but also underscores the importance of international cooperation in overcoming global challenges. Present at the signing this time were the Vice Rector for Planning, Prof. I Putu Gede Adiatmika and the Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Prof. I Wayana Nuarsa along with the team.
