The PPK Ormawa LPM Kertha Aksara Team Carries Out Tule Cultivation Activities in Belatungan Village Together with the Jongkok Pratyaksa and Mertha Utama Farmer Groups

The PPK Ormawa LPM Kertha Aksara Implementation Team on Monday (05/08/2024) carried out a discussion on the skills of cultivating the kula-kula plant in Belatungan Village with the theme Optimizing the potential of kula-kula through proper plant cultivation which was held in the meeting room in Belatungan Village, Pupuan, Tabanan.

This discussion regarding the cultivation of kula-kula plants is one form of implementation of the Ormawa PPK program based on the title raised by the implementing team, namely Agroforestry: Grounding and Globalizing Forest-Product Tube Plants, Realizing Harmonious Economic Independence in Belatungan Village.

This discussion was attended by the Head of Belatungan Village, Regional Heads throughout Belatungan Village, all members of the Jongkok Pratyaksa Farmers Group and the Mertha Utama Farmers Group, Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph. D., Head of the Character Development and Community Service Unit, I Nyoman Budiastra, M.Kes., M.T., and Assistant Lecturer at PPK Ormawa LPM Kertha Aksara, Bima Kumara Dwi Atmaja, S.H., M.H.

The speakers in this discussion were one of the lecturers at the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University, Yuyun Fitriani, S.P., M.P., as well as the head of the Jongkok Pratyaksa farmer group, I Ketut Alit Dwiyasa. This discussion aims to be a forum for farmer groups to exchange information with experienced sources regarding the introduction of kula-kula plant cultivation in Belatungan Village.

The discussion began with an opening by the MC, continued with the presentation of material as well as a discussion session and then closed with a symbolic handover of porang seeds and agricultural tools. The material from the first speaker was related to how to increase the potential of kula-kula plants through appropriate plant cultivation techniques, starting from pre-planting, management until the kula-kula plants can be harvested. Apart from that, the speaker also explained the classification and morphology of the kula plant, as well as the benefits of the plant. The second speaker explained more about the experience of cultivating kula plants in Belatungan Village.

The hope after implementing this program is that farmer groups in Belatungan Village can produce quality kula-kula so that it has a positive impact on the derivative products produced by kula-kula plants.
