Udayana University Professional Certification Institute Holds Training on Recognition Current Competency for Assessor Candidates

The Udayana University (Unud) Professional Certification Institute (LSP) is holding a Recognition Current Competency Training for Assessor Candidates at the Puri Nusa Indah Hotel, Denpasar (5-7 August 2024). This activity was opened by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs representing the Rector of Unud.

Chair of LSP Unud Dr. Saroyini Priartrini in her report said that the Udayana University Professional Certification Institute is an extension of the National Professional Certification Agency which has the function and task of preparing and developing certification schemes; Develop assessment tools and competency tests; providing competency test staff (Competency Assessors); develop competency standards and formulate professional competency test materials; carry out professional competency tests; maintain certification licenses and establish competency test site requirements.

It was further explained that the legal basis for implementing activities is Government Regulation Number 83 of 2020 concerning the obligation to provide competent technical personnel for the services and trade sectors; Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 3 of 2020 concerning National Higher Education Standards, regarding the Fulfillment of Graduates' Rights; and Udayana University's Strategic Plan for the 2020-2024 period, implementing a strategic program to improve the quality of graduates expressed in the number of graduates with competency/professional certification. Meanwhile, resources for organizing training activities come from the DIPA allocation of Udayana University for the 2024 Fiscal Year.

Training for prospective assessors for the 2024 period is part of efforts to develop the capacity of certification resources at LSP Unud, which has the opportunity to provide professional competency certification needs for 48 Undergraduate Study Programs and 4 Vocational Study Programs within Udayana University. The training activity was attended by 48 teaching staff from various faculties. In order to support the expansion of the scope of professional competency certification, with the addition of 36 new certification schemes (Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Tourism), the total number of certification schemes currently being developed is 44 schemes.

Vice Rector Prof. I Gede Rai Maya Temaja in his speech said that Graduate Competencies as formulated as Learning Achievements are a measure of the effectiveness of the learning process that has been carried out and a prerequisite for being accepted into a Job Position which is formulated as a Graduate Profile in accordance with the scientific disciplines given at college. To excel in competition in the employment market both nationally and regionally, it is required to ensure that the capacity of graduates is in line with the demands of the Business and Industrial World.

As is the vision of the Udayana University Institution, namely Excellent, Independent and Cultured, it is required to help students build competencies that suit the needs of the Business and Industrial World in a valid and credible manner. The party supports the Implementation of Work Competency Certification as a process of verifying graduate competency through competency certification which is carried out systematically and objectively through competency tests in accordance with Indonesian National Work Competency Standards, International Standards, and/or Special Standards as determined by applicable legislation.

Developing resources for administering Professional Certification is one of the appropriate efforts to build the university's internal capacity in providing guaranteed link and match of graduate capacity with the needs of the world of work and industry by aligning our learning outcomes with the National Qualifications Framework and National Work Competency Standards. 

He advised participants who took part in the Competency Assessment Implementation Training to be able to complete the training well, where Udayana University will need the participants' abilities to support the Implementation of Competency Certification for our students, which is an improvement in the learning process to build competitive graduates.
