Meeting the Acting Regent of Gianyar, BEM Udayana University handed over the Communal KI Certificate
Gianyar – Tuesday (31/07/2024), the Student Executive Board (BEM) of Udayana University (Unud) through the Department of Culture handed over the Communal Intellectual Property certificate to the custodian through the Acting Regent of Gianyar, I Dewa Tagel Wirasa. This inventory had been carried out several months previously with stages including exploration, observation, interviews, data tabulation and verification by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
On this occasion, BEM Udayana handed over a total of 5 certificates including certificates for Traditional Knowledge and Traditional Cultural Expressions. The following are the details of the Communal Intellectual Property submitted:
1. Rejang Sutri Dance, Batuan Village
2. Legong Kupu Dance – Kupu Tarum, Bedulu Village
3. Ngasa Tradition, Bukian Village
4. Mejarag Tradition, Sebatu Village
5. Legong Lanang Dance, Peliatan Village
Chairman of BEM Unud 2023, I Putu Bagus Padmanegara, said that the Communal Intellectual Property Registration was carried out as a form of student concern for the existence of culture in Bali. This certificate is handed over to the custodian through the Acting. The Gianyar Regent is expected to be a spirit booster for the relevant custodians and the wider community to be able to preserve the culture that has been passed down from generation to generation. Udayana University BEM will always move and strive to find and develop culture in Bali so that it is not only known to the wider community but also has a positive impact on the villages concerned.
Welcoming him warmly, I Dewa Tagel Wirasa expressed his appreciation to the BEM of Udayana University and expressed his thanks. "Of course, on behalf of the people of Gianyar, we, the Gianyar Regency Government, would like to express our gratitude to BEM Unud for building a positive synergy with the Gianyar Regency government," he said
To the Regional Research and Innovation Agency (BRIDA) Gianyar Regency, Drs. Ketut Sedana said that with a scientific basis as academics, the students from BEM Unud had been able to implement their duties and obligations to carry out research and serve the community. "Of course this is a very good example for other students as cultural successors. We are grateful to Udayana University, especially BEM Unud," he said.
Head of the Culture Department of BEM Unud, I Gusti Ngurah Made Prabhaswara added, there are several important points that need to be explored more deeply regarding the culture or tradition that you want to record, such as the nature of culture, cultural teachers, and cultural history. As Head of the Department of Culture, Prabha really hopes that this recording can be utilized as well as possible by the villages concerned to be able to develop and preserve existing culture so that it is not lost to the erodes of time.
