KPK Visits Udayana University Tourism Faculty, Finds Information Related to Tourism Investment
A number of KPK employees from the Corruption Detection and Analysis Directorate 'searched' the Tourism Faculty on Tuesday, July 23 2024. They consisted of Suyadi, Pandu Nathaniel, Sashri Adhyasti Putri, and Ayu Dwi Astuti. All of them are middle research employees in the Corruption Detection and Analysis (DAK) section.
Meanwhile, the recipients from the Faculty of Tourism were Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Wayan Suardana, Coordinator of the Doctoral Study Program Nyoman Sunarta, Deputy Dean III Nyoman Ariana, IB Suryawan, Nararya Narottama, and Coordinator of the Travel Industry Study Program Nyoman Sudiarta.
The DAK Directorate is currently collecting data and information to carry out a study plan related to tourism in Bali, especially the accommodation sector. This is based on the recent news about the massive construction of star and non-star hotels, including beach clubs, which are destroying the environment.
This is what prompted the KPK to look for academic sources who could provide explanations about business processes, the impact of massive accommodation in the tourism sector, or about the current state of land use in Bali.
In his speech, the Dean expressed his appreciation to the KPK team for being willing to visit and partner with the Faculty of Tourism in encouraging clean and accountable development. "Many tourism investment processes do not heed applicable regulations, thereby destroying our natural environment," he said.
Meanwhile, from the Faculty of Tourism, several experts also provided critical input regarding investment in Bali, which should always pay attention to applicable provisions or laws. If Bali tourism is to be sustainable, balance factors and the interests of local communities must be taken into account.
