Language Center of Udayana University Holds Academic Writing Training for Young Lecturers
Denpasar - Language Center of Udayana University held Academic Writing Training for Educators within Udayana University (Unud) at the UPT Language Building, Sudirman Campus, Denpasar, Tuesday (14/5/2024). The training, which lasted for two days, namely 14 and 15 May 2024, was opened by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and attended by 26 lecturers from all faculties within Udayana University.
Head of Language Center of Udayana University UPT Prof. I Nyoman Udayana in his report said that this training activity was attended by young lecturers from 13 faculties at Unud with a total of 26 participants. It was further stated that as an ISS (Institutional Support System), Language Center is very committed to providing language-related services to lecturers at Udayana University. Not only is Academic Writing training provided, but they also regularly hold TOEFL preparation training, Preparation, and UAEPT (Udayana Academic English Proficiency Test). Through this opportunity, the Head of the Language UPT also appreciated the participants who took part in this training.
Meanwhile the Vice Rector Prof. I Gede Rai Maya Temaja in his speech said that the lecturers who took part in this training were young cadres who would develop Udayana University. Of course, we are enthusiastic about continuing to learn and increasing our capacity, especially by taking part in this academic writing training which will facilitate us to make it easier to translate research results in the form of journals or manuscripts, which is an obligation for us researchers to have journals, especially those of international standard, where this journal is one a prerequisite for promotion. For this reason, from the start, you have to start diligently honing your skills, especially in English, which in the future will become a necessity because we will move towards a World Class University.
Through this opportunity, the Vice Rector also appreciated the steps taken by Language Center to gradually guide lecturers to increase competition, especially in English language skills. The Vice Rector asked participants to make the best use of this training to learn from the teachers to improve their abilities in writing manuscripts which will be submitted to journal editors to improve their respective performance.
"Having good academic writing skills will improve our ability to write manuscripts which we submit to reputable journals indexed by Scopus," said the Vice Rector.
The Vice Chancellor hopes that this training can provide benefits, especially in academic writing and improve standard English factors in accordance with standards.
