BAPETEN Focus Group Discussion with the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University in the Field of Cyber Security in Nuclear Installations and the Industrial World
The Nuclear Energy Supervisory Agency (BAPETEN) in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering (FT) of Udayana University (Unud), held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Tuesday 12 September 2023, at the Meeting Room 1 floor 3 of the FT Dean's Building. This FGD activity is still in a series of activities with the 2023 Nuclear Safety Seminar and Nuclear Products Exhibition, which will be held from 11 to 12 September 2023.
The FGD theme raised was "Cyber Security in Nuclear Installations and Cyber Security in the Industrial World". This is important to gain a common understanding regarding licensing of non-reactor nuclear installations, forms of threats related to cyber security that exist in nuclear installations and the industrial world, along with solutions.
The activity was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, Prof. Ir. Linawati, M.Eng.,Sc.,Ph.D. The FGD activity was attended by seven representatives from BAPETEN, as well as six representatives from the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University. Apart from that, there are two additional lecturers from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA).
As a resource person from BAPETEN was Widia Lastana Istanto, S.T., M.T., while from the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, the two speakers were I Putu Agus Eka Pratama, S.T., M.T. and Ir. Fajar Purnama, S.T., M.Eng, PhD.
The material presented by Widia Lastana Istanto included an introduction to BAPETEN as a non-ministerial government institution which is under the president and is directly responsible to the president, a number of other presentations related to BAPETEN's organizational structure and activities, as well as the duties and functions of Non-Reactor Nuclear Installation Licensing (PINNR). ). At the end of the presentation, several examples of cyber security threats that occurred in nuclear reactors in a number of developed countries in the world were also revealed which were caused by malware (ransomware) and how BAPETEN carried out cyber security efforts in its system.
The material presented by I Putu Agus Eka Pratama regarding Cyber Security in the Industrial Era 4.0, which includes a description of the basic concepts of cyber security, an introduction to Industry 4.0 and the technologies used, several forms of security threats that arise occurring in the Industrial 4.0 era, a number of frameworks for cyber security, as well as solutions related to efforts to realize cyber security in the industrial world and in nuclear reactors.
The material presented by Fajar Purnama regarding the use of blockchain technology in cyber security and the extent to which it suits the needs of the industrial world, which includes an introduction to blockchain technology, blockchain concepts, forms of blockchain use related to cyber security, as well as a number of shortcomings and the risks of blockchain technology.
