The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA) of Udayana University (Unud) received a visit from the Assessor Team of the Independent Accreditation Institute for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA) in the framework of the Field Assessment for Accreditation of the Mathematics Undergraduate Study Program, Monday (24/7/23) at the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bukit Jimbaran Campus Unud. The assessment was opened by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gede Rai Maya Temaja, MP,. The team of assessors who attended this assessment Prof. Dr. Robert Saragih, MT (ITB), and Prof. Dr. Isnani Darti, S.Si., M.Si (UB).
Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Prof. dr. Ni Luh Watiniasih, M.Sc., Ph.D in her speech expressed her hope that the objectives of this field assessment could be achieved properly. The Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in this case also explained the vision and mission of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences as listed in the 2020-2024 Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Strategic Plan which is aligned with the Vision and Mission of Udayana University. Based on the results of a satisfaction survey carried out on students, alumni, lecturers, students, users, and partners, it can be concluded that the majority of respondents stated a good level of satisfaction from the four assessment criteria, not good, fair, good, and very good. This is of course very encouraging, because we realize that during the past 2019-2022 pandemic, the education system at Unud underwent a change where previously it was only face-to-face, now Unud already has offline and online lecture facilities that are strengthened using the webex platform and the OASE Learning Management System (LMS).
Prof. Watiningsih also explained regarding human resources at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, which currently has 183 lecturers, 19 of whom hold Professorships and as many as 61 hold Lector and Lector titles. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences also has 57 staff members who are divided into PNS and contract staff. In the Dean's Performance Report for 2022, the Main Performance Indicators (IKU) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences have a good value where most of the targeted KPIs can be exceeded. In addition, the educational development that has been carried out includes developing an OBE-based curriculum and preparing for ASIIN international accreditation. In the field of research, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences produces an average of over 50 scientific publications per year in 2016-2022. Meanwhile, in the field of community service, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has also carried out many services in various fields, both nationally and internationally involving various components of society, researchers and students.
It is undeniable that the development of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in the future is getting better, this is indicated by the use of a new 4-floor building on the Jimbaran campus which is used as classrooms, laboratory rooms, administrative rooms, and the room for the leadership of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. This building is one of two new buildings owned by FMIPA and is expected to be able to improve the quality of education at the Faculty of MIPA.
Meanwhile the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gede Rai Maya Temaja, MP in this assessment expressed his welcome to the Assessor team at Udayana University who will carry out the field assessment of the Mathematics Undergraduate Study Program. The hope is for the Assessor Team to be able to provide various inputs, especially for the Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University. Of course, what has been proposed or written by the task force team has not been perfect, which has been examined in the adequacy assessment. The assessor team is here to observe us in the field assessment, if there are things that we have done but have missed, so that the study program can be given the opportunity to make improvements.
"Hopefully we can get a better title and you will provide a portrait in this field assessment, namely the improvement of the adequacy assessment that has been proposed by the study program through what was carried out by the task force," said Prof. Rai.
