The Launch of the Biography of Tjokorda Raka Sukawati Inventor of the Sosrobahu Flyover Construction Technique

The Puri Kauhan Ubud Foundation launched the biography of the late Tjokorda Raka Sukawati who was the inventor of the Sosrobahu Flyover Construction Technique. The launch of the book entitled "Step Without Tired" was held in the Postgraduate Hall of the Sudrirman Campus, Denpasar, Wednesday (15/12/2021). Also attending the event were the Vice Governor of Bali, Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Information, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Rector of Unud for the 2017-2021 Period, Penglingsir Puri Agung Ubud, Chancellors of Public and Private Universities in Bali, Resource Persons and other invitees.

The chairman of the Puri Kauhan Ubud Foundation who is also the Special Staff Coordinator of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Anak Agung Ngurah Ari Dwipayana conveyed the launch of the second book after the launch on December 9 last at the Jakarta National Library. This book reviews the late Tjokorda Raka Sukawati who was met by Prof. Ida Bagus Mantra and invited him to establish the Faculty of Engineering at Udayana University. At that time he became the Head of the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Bali Project, and finally the big idea was achieved to establish the Faculty of Engineering on October 20, 1965, with the first major being Architectural Engineering with the first Dean Prof. Ida Bagus Mantra. The Faculty of Engineering eventually developed into two departments, and in 1967 the deceased was given the trust to become the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.

Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Information, Prof. Dr. dr. I Putu Gede Adiatmika, M.Kes in his speech said that the legendary figure in this book, Tjokorda Raka Sukawati, is an innovator and inventor of the Sosrobahu flyover construction technique. His steps in serving the nation and state as well as his efforts to find construction techniques have become an inspiration for this nation, especially university people.

The choice of the Udayana University campus as the launch site for this book shows how Tjokorda Raka Sukawati's ideas should be an inspiration to all of us. How the innovation is created, the stages that are passed, until it can be applied and then the transfer of technology to users is carried out into a technology that has been recognized in academic, technical, intellectual property and implementation for development, especially in road construction technology and eventually spread to various countries. On behalf of Udayana University Prof. Adiatmika expressed his highest appreciation and appreciation to Tjokorda Raka Sukawati and his extended family, as well as thanks to Anak Agung Gusti Ngurah Ari Dwipayana for making Udayana University an important part of the book launch process as well as being a trigger for the academic community to continue working in education, research and community service.
