Together Handling the Covid-19 Pandemic, Unud Medical Faculty Organizes Routine Blood Donations and Convalescent Plasma Blood Donors
The Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University held Routine Blood Donation and Convalescent Plasma Blood Donation at the Cakra Vidya Usadha Building, Wednesday (21/07/2021). This activity was carried out in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, the Bali Province Covid-19 Task Force, PMI Bali, Sanglah Hospital, and PDDI Bali, in order to meet the need for convalescent blood for Covid-19 patients, which was held for three days from 21 July to 23 July 2021.
The Daily Chair of the Bali Covid-19 Task Force, Dewa Made Indra, also reviewed the implementation of the blood donation. According to Dewa Made Indra, the Bali Provincial Government appreciates the steps taken by the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, which since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic has contributed to its handling. Especially when the number of Covid-19 cases is increasing, the Faculty of Medicine together with related elements initiated the implementation of convalescent plasma blood donation for Covid-19 patients who are still being treated.
Blood donation is carried out while still prioritizing health protocols, such as washing hands, checking body temperature before entering the room, and being required to wear masks.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. dr. I Ketut Suyasa, Sp.B., Sp.OT(K) said that the implementation of convalescent blood donation is a form of responsibility of the Faculty of Medicine as an educational institution for the community. For this reason, the Faculty of Medicine collaborates with various parties to jointly deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Routine blood donation and convalescent blood donation have been carried out by the Faculty of Medicine. Not only that, the Faculty of Medicine also provides education on health protocols to telecoseling services for residents who are undergoing self-isolation. Telecounseling is carried out every day by providing various health education, such as internal medicine, lung, children, psychiatry, psychologist, physiotherapy, and others.
