PHYSICS STUDENT ASSOCIATION HOLD COMMUNITY SERVICE IN THE FORM OF MANGROVE PLANTING
Saturday, June 17th 2023, Social Service I Physics 2023 was carried out, which is a community service activity in the form of planting mangroves which took place at the Wana Segara Kertih Fishermen Group, Kedonganan, Badung Regency, Bali.
This activity was attended by Deputy Dean for Student Affairs and Information of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Prof.Dr. Ni Nyoman Rupiasih, S.Sc., M.Sc.,PhD. , Coordinator of the Physics Study Program Dr. Drs. Wayan Gede Suharta, M.Sc. , Student Lecturer of the Physics Study Program Dr. Ida Bagus Made Suryantika, S.Sc., M.Sc., Mr/Mrs Physics Lecturer at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and Physics Students from the 2019-2022 class.
In this activity which was also attended by local residents, education was presented about the benefits of mangroves. Where explained the function of mangroves apart from being one of the plants with the largest oxygen contributor, also serves as a prevention of abrasion and coastal erosion. It should also be noted that mangrove forests are a breeding ground for brackish animals such as crabs and fish. For this reason, the maintenance of this mangrove ecosystem is very important to maintain and preserve.
According to the Coordinator of the Physics Study Program, Wayan Gede Suhartam, the activity, which was carried out for one day, is expected to increase public awareness of the preservation of the mangrove ecosystem.
