CEO and Senior Scientist from CIFOR-ICRAF gave a international guest lecture on ecosystem conservation at FMIPA

On Friday 26 May, the Biology Study Program had the opportunity to hold a guest lecture by inviting international speakers on the 3rd Floor of the Library Building. This guest lecture raised the theme of Sustainability in The Digital Age and Future Earth.

 

The speakers invited were Dr. Eliane Ubalijoro who is the CEO of CIFOR-ICRAF and the Director of ICRAF and West Himlal, Ph.D. who is a Senior Scientist from CIFOR-ICRAF. Together with Eliane and Himlal, Dra. Ni Luh Watiniasih, M.Sc., Ph.D. as a speaker moderated by Ms. Fainmarinat S.Inabuy.

This guest lecture focuses on how to restore forest ecology and the continuation of modern agriculture that does not damage the ecosystem, and will end with planting mangroves the next day.

 

Mrs. Ni Luh Watiniasih, Ph.D who is the dean of FMIPA hopes that this guest lecture activity that invites international guests can make listeners and students move a little, which will be very meaningful for future generations. The dean also hopes that students and the younger generation in the future will become drivers of the economy, environment, and saving the environment that will replace the previous generations.

 

dr. Luh Putu Eswaryanti Kusuma Yuni, MSc., PhD as Chair of the Cooperation Unit of FMIPA Unud and Lecturer in MK Ecology in the Biology Study Program FMIPA also said that this guest lecture was an implementation of a cooperation agreement between FMIPA Unud and CIFOR. The guest speaker is the CEO of an international NGO engaged primarily in the field of landscape/ecosystem restoration. Through a guest lecture with the theme Sustainability in The Digital Age & Future Earth, students are expected to understand the approaches, strategies and activities used in sustainable ecosystem conservation.

 

I Putu Gede Cakra Suwabawa, one of the guest lecture participants, said that participating in this guest lecture felt extraordinary, because the presenters were experts in their fields, and hoped that similar activities would be held, which would later open up new insights that may not necessarily be obtained. in general courses.
