Balinese Literature Study Program was established on 29 September 1958 at the same time as the establishment of Faculty of Literature and Culture of Udayana University. Balinese Literature Study Program was established to implement and develop educational institution functions through learning system with high competence through teaching, researches, and community services, as well as to produce graduates who have the ability to study Balinese language, scripture, and litearature by using linguistic and literature science basis. Since the establishment, the Study Program has graduated over 470 Bachelors of Balinese Literature.

The vision of Balinese Literature Study Program is “Becoming excellent, independent, and cultured Balinese Literature Study Program”
MISSIONS
The missions of Balinese Literature Study Program are as follows.
- Carrying out high quality University Tri Dharma (Education and Teaching, Research, and Community Service) in the fields of Balinese language, scripture, and literature within a period of 5 years.
- Improving education which encourages student characters which are able to think globally and act locally and create independence to compete with the working world at national and international levels within a period of 5 years.
- Developing partnerships with government and private, local, national, as well as international institutions in increasing the capacity of the institution, developing science and technology (iptek), and increasing contribution to the society.
