Inaugurated by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana Legally Becomes Rector of Udayana University, the Third Rector from the Faculty of Engineering

Jakarta - Located in the Main Graha, Ki Hadjar Dewantara Building, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, an Inauguration Ceremony for Officials within the Ministry of Education and Culture, Thursday (10/10/2024) was held. The Secretary General on behalf of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology inaugurated and took the oath/promise of office of several officials within the Ministry of Education and Culture and one of them was the Rector of Udayana University (Unud).

Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, ST., Ph.D. who was the Candidate for Rector of Unud for the 2024-2028 period was officially elected as the Definitive Rector of Unud by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Culture, replacing Prof. Ir. Ngakan Putu Gede Suardana, MT., Ph.D., IPU. Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana is one of the Professors at the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University from the Civil Engineering Study Program.

Apart from the Rector of Unud, in this inauguration ceremony several officials were also inaugurated, namely the Director of the Ujung Pandang State Polytechnic, the Institutional Director of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, the Head of the Center for Curriculum and Learning, the Educational Curriculum and Assessment Standards Agency, the Head of the General Section of LLDikti Region 15, and other officials. The inauguration ceremony begins with the reading of the Ministerial Decree which is followed by taking the oath or promise of office, signing the minutes of taking the oath/promise, inauguration, signing the minutes of the handover of office, and draping of the Rector's Office Necklace.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Ir. Suharti, MA., Ph.D in his speech said that increasing equity and improving the quality of education is the main challenge in educational development in Indonesia. The government has made various efforts, carrying out transformations such as issuing policies that support quality education, improving educational infrastructure and increasing the competence of educators and educational staff, both teachers and lecturers and other educational staff.

"To the higher education leaders who were inaugurated today, we would like to emphasize that the success of higher education is very dependent on the development of academic culture and quality, especially through the application of the values ​​of academic integrity. Higher education leaders have an important role in ensuring trust, justice, honor, responsibility and determination in maintaining all activities, policies, programs within the academic community of each State University," she said.

More than that, it is also hoped to be an effective link between strategic policies and those implemented in the field, so that decisions needed in the organization can be implemented optimally and on target. Competence and professionalism are the keys to maintaining quality performance and achieving the goals we have set.

It is hoped that the appointed officials will not only be respected because of their authority in their position but will become leaders who are followed because of their example and leadership. In this way, the policies taken can be understood and followed by employees in their respective work units with awareness and full sense of responsibility to carry out joint tasks which must be carried out collaboratively.

"Carry out these roles and responsibilities as well as possible, duties may change over time but make sure wherever assigned they are carried out with high integrity," she said.

Through this opportunity the Secretary General also expressed his thanks to Prof. Ir. Ngakan Putu Gede Suardana, MT., Ph.D as the previous Rector of Unud for his devotion and services while holding office.
