Rector of Unud, Prof. I Nyoman Gde Antara, said he was proud and appreciated because Unud again gave birth to 8 permanent professors. With the inauguration of these 8 Professors, Unud has additional human resources whose scientific capacity has been highly tested. This of course will make Unud's presence in the community more recognized and have a positive impact on improving quality and will further encourage Unud to achieve its goals of becoming a World Class University.
Prof. Antara said that until now Unud has a total of 199 professors and it is believed that this number will continue to increase in the future. Because based on data owned by the HR department, currently Unud has 1,369 PNS Educators, 122 BLU Permanent Lecturers and 80 Contract Lecturers. There are 354 Head Lecturers (26%), 507 people holding the position of Lector (37%), 192 Expert Assistants (14%) and 117 people with the status of Teaching Staff (9%). Based on these data, Unud has 507 Lectors and 236 Principal Lectors who have doctoral degrees.
"With a large number of Head Lecturers, it means that we have great potential to be more optimistic about increasing the number of Professors at Udayana University. Hopefully today's inauguration of Professors will also inspire other academics to become Professors soon," said the Rector
With the inauguration of these 8 Professors, Prof. Antara said the percentage of Professors owned by Unud in 2023 was 15 percent. This also shows that Unud has also exceeded the target of the Ministry regarding the minimum number of professors at a university, which is 10 percent. With the newly inaugurated Professor, and followed by a Professor who will be retiring, Unud continues to support and encourage Lectors and Head Lecturers who already have Doctoral Degrees or Doctoral Diplomas to immediately proceed to Professorship. This is because the more Professors who are inaugurated shows the more experts that Unud has and further strengthens Unud as a University that is able to prepare candidates for the next generation because of the quality of the educational process and the quality of the educators.
"With the increasing number of superior human resources at the university that we love, we can guard Udayana University to be able to compete at the national level as well as at the international level," said the Rector.
Secretary of the Unud Professor Forum Prof. Dr. drh. Nyoman Sadra Dharmawan, MS, representing the Head of the Forum, in his remarks congratulated the Professors who had been inaugurated. The position of professor or professor is the highest academic position in tertiary institutions which is given to those who are still active, so it is hoped that all of them will continue to work professionally and be role models. Associated with the current conditions where Udayana University is transforming towards internationalization, the role of professors is very significant in this regard. International recognition can be seen from the educational achievements of these institutions, where these achievements are called outcome base education, this requires an outcome base curriculum and an outcome base curriculum requires an outcome base teaching and learning process as well as an outcome base evaluation.
Furthermore, in research and service, in addition to referring to national education standards and Udayana University standards, the professors are also responsible for internationalization issues.
