Udayana University and the Indonesian Architects Association (IAI) extended the collaboration which was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties in the Language Room of the Unud Rectorate Building, Jimbaran Campus, Friday (10/9/2021). The event was attended by the Rector of Unud, the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Information, the Vice Deans of the Faculty of Engineering, Representatives of the Architecture Study Program and the Coordinator of Cooperation and Public Relations and their ranks. Meanwhile, IAI was attended by the General Chairperson and several administrators.
The collaboration between Unud and IAI began in August 2016 which was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by both parties, where this signing is an extension of the previous Memorandum of Understanding. From the collaboration that has been established, it has been implemented through various activities including collaboration in organizing seminars or workshops, cooperation in the implementation of the MBKM internship program and the implementation of socialization and benchmarking.
Rector of Unud Prof. I Nyoman Gde Antara in his speech said that this collaboration is expected to have an impact not only for IAI and related units but for Unud who really need IAI's assistance in academic and non-academic contexts. For this reason, through the extension of this collaboration, it is necessary to follow up through PKS not only with the Architecture Study Program, but also with other relevant work units. Every collaboration must have an impact and benefit. Unud requires IAI input in the field of teaching curriculum for architecture students and supports the MBKM program, one of which is through an internship program. The Rector's commitment is that Unud has an integrated and quality campus education ecosystem, so that it must transform into a modern campus. For this reason, landscape arrangement needs support from IAI to change the appearance of the campus which is carried out in stages, the process will soon begin to build infrastructure including dormitories and lecture buildings as well as campus restaurants. Campus development will refer to the master plan, where development must be in accordance with the plan. In this case, the role of IAI will be needed on the university board to accommodate planning proposals, IAI is expected to help provide various inputs in the development of Udayana University.
Meanwhile, the General Chair of IAI I Ketut Rana Wiarcha on the occasion said that IAI has become a legal entity and is a long struggle which considers the existence of architectural alumni from all universities in Indonesia in taking part not only at the local level, but towards the global level. IAI now also plays a role as an international level manpower supply agency, where the obstacle faced is equality. He hopes that the signed Memorandum of Understanding can be followed up with various technical activities.
