Rector of Udayana University Received a Visit From Minnesota University, United States of America
Bukit Jimbaran - Udayana University received a visit from the University of Minnesota, United States, Monday (29/05/2017) which facilitated by the Center for One Health Unud Study. The delegation was accepted by the Rector of Udayana University in Bukit Jimbaran Rectorate Building Ruang Bahasa.The visit was conducted on the sidelines of the General Stadium "Revealing One Health Approach to Detect, Prevent, and Respond to Emerging Infectious Disease (EID) and Zoonosis Issues" which the activity held at the Faculty of Medicine, Unud Campus Sudirman Denpasar. This activity is one of the efforts to increase and strengthen the capacity of Unud as one of the network of One Health University Network (INDOHUN) in expanding the science of One Health approach.
The visit was attended by Rector of Unud, Prof. Dr. Dr. Ketut Suastika, Sp.PD-KEMD, Coordinator of One Health Unud, Dr. Dr. Nyoman Sri Budayanti, Sp.MK (K), Coordinator of INDOHUN, Prof. Drh. Wiku Adisasmito, M.Sc., Ph.D., Associate Dean of the School of Public Health, University of Minnesota, Associate of Dean of College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Minnesota, Regional Technical Advisor of One Health Workforce Project, South East Asia University Network Foundation, and One Health Coordinator of Gadjah Mada University and others.
Rector of Unud, Prof. Ketut Suastika in his speech expressed his appreciation for the visit from INDOHUN Team and University of Minnesota that mainly related to One Health Collaboration Center (OHCC). Unud is proud to be a member of INDOHUN and can play an active role in its activities. Prof. Suastika also said that he has coordinated with Bali Provincial Government in implementing One Health in real life. There are several issues that need to be addressed related to One Health, especially in overcoming some zoonosi diseases and other new diseases that always appear in Bali, considering Bali is a tourist destination. Prof. Suastika hopes this cooperation can be implemented in real life and can be improved again in the future.
A representative from the University of Minnesota said that he would support Unud as one of INDOHUN's members. University of Minnesota will also initiate cooperation with the Unud party in terms of student exchange, lecturers, research cooperation, and other cooperations that benefits both parties.(PR)
