Udayana University Collaborates with Shanghai Ocean University
Jimbaran - Udayana University (Unud) has established a collaboration with Shanghai Ocean University which was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at the Bahasa Room of the Jimbaran Campus Rectorate Building, Friday (3/21/2025). The signing ceremony was attended by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Information representing the Rector of Unud, the Dean of the Faculty of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and the Staff. Meanwhile, from Shanghai Ocean University, it was attended by the Chairwoman of the College of Fisheries and Life Science with the Associated Professor and Secretary of the Center for Ecological Aquaculture.
Shanghai Ocean University is a multidisciplinary higher education institution oriented towards applied research with a focus on aquaculture and fisheries. This university is registered in the national 'Double First-Class' initiative, committed to sustainable development and utilization of aquatic biological resources and ecological protection of the earth's environment.
Vice Rector Prof. I Putu Gede Adiatmika in his remarks introduced a brief profile of Udayana University which has 13 faculties, one of which is the Faculty of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. Unud also has cooperation with several universities in China and has the Tourism Confucius Institute under the Faculty of Tourism. Today, Unud has a new cooperation with a university in China, namely Shanghai Ocean University.
The collaboration with Shanghai Ocean University was initiated by the teaching staff who visited Shanghai Ocean University and took the initiative to follow up the visit with a collaboration between Shanghai Ocean University and Udayana University. The Vice Rector hopes that this collaboration can be implemented in various activities such as student exchange, joint research, staff exchange and others considering that Unud also has a Faculty of Marine Affairs and Fisheries which has the same field as Shanghai Ocean University.
Meanwhile, The Chairwoman of the College of Fisheries and Life Science Ms. Xiaobo Gao on that occasion also explained the profile of Shanghai Ocean University, the College of Fisheries and Life Science which was established in 1921 and is the origin of higher education in aquaculture in China. The College of Fisheries and Life Science has a vision and mission that focuses on sustainable development & utilization of aquatic, bio-resources.
By relying on aquaculture and hydrobiology, it conducts applied research and cutting-edge technology services. The College of Fisheries and Life Science aims to foster the best innovative talents with a global vision and build a world-class university. It hopes that this collaboration can provide benefits for both institutions
