British Embassy Jakarta's Development Director Gives General Lecture at Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Udayana University

Denpasar - Development Director and Minister Counsellor for Development, UK Mission to ASEAN at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FDCO) Ms. Amanda McLoughlin OBE gave a general lecture with the theme UK-Indonesia Development Cooperation at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Udayana University (Unud) Sudirman Campus, Denpasar, Monday (17/3/2025). This activity is part of the official visit of the British Embassy Jakarta's Development Director to Udayana University.

Before the general lecture, a meeting was held between the Rector of Unud Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana accompanied by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs with the Development Director who was accompanied by the Regional Outreach Manager Bali and NTB of the British Embassy Jakarta Winda Listiyani and also attended by the Dean and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and the Coordinator of the Unud International Affairs Office.

At the meeting which took place at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Building, the Rector expressed his gratitude to Ms. Amanda McLoughlin OBE who has been willing to share knowledge and information to Unud students through general lecture activities. In the meeting also discussed other opportunities for cooperation, as well as information on cooperation that has been implemented through the Unud International Affairs Office such as UK Day activities to provide information on scholarships and how education in the UK and other ongoing cooperation.

Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Udayana University, Dr. I Nengah Punia, in his speech opening the Public Lecture, said that Ms. Amanda, as a speaker who has a career and expertise in the field of international development and diplomacy, is expected to provide enlightenment regarding the dynamic and ever-growing development partnership between Indonesia and the UK. This general lecture comes at a time when Indonesia and the UK are strengthening cooperation in various sectors ranging from green finance, education, climate diplomacy, and inclusive economic development.

Meanwhile, Ms. Amanda said that in the general lecture, they will talk more with students about why international development is important, where international development is related to many courses and knowledge that can help students in the future.
