Udayana University Collaborates with the Aerospace Information Research Institute Chinese Academy of Science

Jimbaran - Udayana University (Unud) has collaborated with the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR) Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) China which was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Bahasa Room of the Jimbaran Campus Rectorate Building, Friday (28/2/2025). This collaboration was initiated through the Faculty of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Udayana University. Present at the MoU signing ceremony were the Rector of Unud, the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Information, as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and the Vice Deans. Meanwhile, those present from AIRCAS were the Director General Mr. WU Yirong and staff.

The Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR) under the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) was founded in 2018 through the merger of three CAS Institutes, namely the Institute of Electronics (IECAS), the Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth (RADI) and the Academy of Opto-Electronics (AOE).

Rector of Unud Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana said that this collaboration was an important milestone for advancing research and education in the field of remote sensing and earth sciences. This collaboration will provide the benefit of expanding networks and strengthening capacity in studying the dynamic nature of Indonesia's tropical regions.

This collaboration will focus on several research areas including the development of remote sensing of the earth, especially regarding the atmosphere, marine ecosystems and plant monitoring; advancing remote sensing in earth sciences to address global issues in carbon storage assessment, environmental protection, disaster management, resource sustainability, and climate change; development of ground-based space infrastructure; training and retraining of personnel in various fields of remote sensing and its applications; development of joint educational programs and projects aimed at studying remote sensing and space technologies; organizing scientific seminars and conferences, as well as technical consultations.

These areas are critical to understanding and addressing the complex challenges facing the environment. By combining our expertise and resources, it is hoped that we can make a significant contribution to the scientific community and sustainable natural resource management.

By working together, we can leverage our strengths and create a platform for innovative research that will benefit our institutions and the wider world," said the Rector of Unud.

The Rector also believes that this MoU will be a strong foundation for a beneficial and sustainable partnership.
