Udayana University and the University of Sydney Hold Community Mental Health Improvement Activities in Abang District

Abang, 24 January 2025 – Udayana University (Unud), in collaboration with the University of Sydney, held an activity entitled "Improving Community Mental Health" in Abang District, Karangasem. This activity is a concrete manifestation of the university's contribution to supporting community welfare, especially through improving mental health.

This event was attended by the Abang Subdistrict Head, the Abang Village Head, as well as representatives from the Abang 1 Health Center. In his speech, Udayana University through the chairman of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on the Humanities and Social Sciences Cokorda Rai Adi Pramartha, Ph.D emphasized its commitment to continue collaborating with various parties in overcoming the mental health challenges faced by the Balinese people.

"Mental health is the main foundation for building a quality and meaningful life. This activity is the first step for us to develop appropriate digital technology to suit society's needs, especially in the mental health domain," said a representative from Udayana University in his speech.

Collaboration with the University of Sydney adds an innovative dimension through an information technology-based approach, which is expected to provide concrete solutions in supporting people's mental health. Active participation of health workers, local communities and researchers is one of the keys to the success of this activity.

Udayana University also expressed its appreciation to all parties, especially the Abang 1 Community Health Center, the Abang Village government, Abang sub-district, and the Suryani Institute for Mental Health who have supported the holding of this event. It is hoped that this activity will be the start of various other positive initiatives that will have a real impact on society.

The event closed with remarks and an official opening by the Abang Subdistrict Head, who underlined the importance of cross-sector collaboration to build a healthy society, both physically and mentally.
