Cancer Care Student Community, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University Collaborates with Anyo Indonesia Foundation to Hold Cancer Education in Children
Denpasar - The Cancer Care Student Community (Kompak) of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (Unud) collaborated with the Anyo Indonesia Foundation to hold Cancer Education for Children at the Unud Faculty of Medicine Building, Sudirman Campus, Denpasar, Wednesday (2/10/2024). This activity is also a series of commemorations of September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Kompak itself is a Semi-Autonomous Agency (BSO) which is oriented towards increasing public insight and knowledge in the prevention and early detection of cancer, as well as providing support for cancer survivors. Meanwhile, the Anyo Indonesia Foundation is the manager of Rumah Anyo, which is a temporary residence for childhood cancer patients aged 0-18 years, which also provides food, transportation and daily necessities for patients and their companions.
Chairman of Kompak Angjun said that Kompak is a semi-autonomous body that operates in the field of cancer prevention which is under the coordination of the BEM Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Medicine, Unud. The activities carried out are activities in the field of prevention, screening, and also support for cancer survivors, especially those in Bali.
Through this opportunity, the party appreciated the Anyo Foundation for collaborating to carry out this activity. He hopes that this activity will provide benefits and care about the high incidence of cancer in Indonesia, especially cancer in children, so that we can understand and play a direct role in preventing it.
Chairman of the Anyo Indonesia Foundation, Pinta Manullang Panggabean, appreciated the implementation of this activity. Through this opportunity, his party also introduced a glimpse of the Anyo Foundation, which was founded 12 years ago. His party is committed to saving cancer sufferers, especially children, so they can survive. He also appreciated the Unud Faculty of Medicine which has a cancer care community which it is hoped that in the future it will be able to provide education related to cancer.
Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Unud Prof. Komang Januartha Putra Pinatih in his speech said that cancer is one of the diseases that causes death. With the complexity of the problem of cancer, extraordinary efforts must be made to handle it. This is a shared responsibility, educational institutions also have that responsibility and have students who care about cancer who have agreed to form the BSO Cancer Care Student Community.
This effort is also supported by the Anyo Foundation which has supported the implementation of this activity so that they can develop themselves in helping treat cancer in their capacity as students. He appreciated the Anyo Foundation for supporting students as part of increasing insight and experience for students so that they have concern and make real efforts to overcome the problem of cancer, especially in children.
Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana in his speech said that this activity was certainly very useful, especially for students at the Faculty of Medicine. He hopes that students will be able to increase their awareness through community service activities, not only learning about knowledge but also how to have empathy and care for the community. One of the activities is through participation in an organization or BSO that carries out seminar activities like today. The issue of cancer is indeed a major cause of death, so it is hoped that students can learn and listen well so that the information obtained can be disseminated.
