Indonesian Ministry of Culture Together with Udayana University Holds Subak Spirit "2024 Subak Cultural Gathering"

The Indonesian Ministry of Culture together with Udayana University (Unud) held the Subak Spirit event "Subak Cultural Gathering 2024" at the Postgraduate Hall, Sudirman Campus, Monday (11/11/2024). This event was attended by the Chairman of PHRI Bali, DPD Bali Indonesian Farmers Association, Chancellor of UNHI, Head of Subak and Agrotourism Laboratory, Cool Young Farmers Community, as well as Heads of Bali Province and Bali Regency Services.

In her speech, the Director of Cultural Development and Utilization, Irini Dewi Wanti, said that with this Subak Spirit event, we could discuss further all issues related to Subak and the sustainability of Subak which UNESCO declared as Indonesia's world heritage. It is hoped that the Ministry of Culture can facilitate all issues and problems regarding Subak. With the existence of Subak Spirit, we can develop a roadmap which will ultimately be useful for achieving and caring for Subak in line with government programs, namely self-sufficiency and food security.

Rector of Udayana University Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana in his speech and officially opening the event said that Udayana University is happy to support various efforts made to preserve and strengthen the Subak Ecosystem and is committed to being actively involved in the development of research, education and community service, especially in the agricultural sector. ecology, and cultural preservation.

Unud believes that through synergy between academics, practitioners and the community we can overcome the challenges currently faced by the Subak System, including land conversion, labor shortages in the agricultural sector and climate change. Through this event, there is an opportunity to discuss, exchange ideas and agree on strategic steps to maintain the sustainability of the Subak System as a pillar of food security and a sustainable ecosystem in Bali.
