Preparing for ON-MIPA Implementation in 2025, Udayana University Holds Internal Selection

Udayana University (Unud) held the 2024 National Mathematics and Natural Sciences Olympiad Selection (ON-MIPA) at the Nation Room, Rectorate Building, Jimbaran Campus, Friday (15/11/2024). ON-MIPA is a talent development event in the fields of mathematics and science at the tertiary level organized by the Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI) through the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas). This activity aims to obtain and develop talented and characterful students with international achievements, so that they are able to contribute as pioneers of development through science and technology, to create a superior nation.

This selection activity was opened directly by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs at Udayana University. The number of participants who took part in the selection was 31 people, consisting of 4 people from the Faculty of Medicine, 5 people from the Animal Husbandry Faculty, 18 people from the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculty and 4 people from the Engineering Faculty, and involving 16 judges.

Chairman of Committee I Putu Tedy Indrayana, S.Pd., M.Sc. in his report conveyed the internal selection of this university in preparation for the implementation of ON-MIPA in 2025. In this internal selection process, participants were invited from 8 faculties in the field of science and technology at Udayana University where only 4 faculties participated, namely Medicine, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Animal Husbandry and Technique. In ON-MIPA there are 4 fields, namely mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology.

It is hoped that the results of this selection will be able to prepare 5 people each in each field for each field who will take part in coaching first and will then take part in the regional level selection in March 2025. The results of the regional level selection will then take part in the national level selection in May 2025 because the Puspresnas agenda for 2025 is more advanced than the previous year.

In order to prepare for ON-MIPA, the party has planned several coaching programs for teams that have been selected from this selection process which will be coached regularly until March by involving lecturers from each relevant study program. On average, every year Unud passes 2 people to the national selection and by 2025 it is hoped that all fields will be represented at the national level and contribute to winning medals.

Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Dr. Gusti Ngurah Alit Susanta Wirya, SP., M.Agr in his speech said that this ON-MIPA activity was very prestigious at the national level, in which participants had to take part in a selection process in stages starting from the university level to the national level. Therefore, student achievements in this prestigious event will have an impact on increasing Udayana University's IKU achievements. In order to achieve maximum results, of course students must be enthusiastic and work hard in preparing.

"ON-MIPA is not an event that just means you can qualify for regional level, but more than that, students must have high targets so that these targets will always motivate you to study and learn, study content and practice questions in a disciplined manner. To become champions ON-MIPA, requires consistent persistence to practice new and increasingly challenging questions," said the Vice Rector.

The Vice Rector further revealed that his party, with the entire team at the Student Affairs Bureau and the Center for Student Achievement and Creativity, always strives to facilitate student activities optimally to achieve our targeted goals. The Vice Rector also invited us to supervise together so that the selection, coaching and testing processes at regional and national levels can be carried out optimally.

Head of the Center for Creativity and Student Achievement at Unud Dr. On this occasion, I Wayan Santiyasa motivated the students participating in the selection to be able to fight in this selection considering that ON-MIPA is an event that receives special attention from the Ministry where ON-MIPA winners are provided with LPDP scholarships and can choose to study abroad.
