Udayana University Holds Student Peer Counselor Workshop

Jimbaran - Udayana University (Unud) Student Affairs Bureau in collaboration with the Counseling Services Unit (ULK) held a Udayana University Peer Counselor Workshop, located in the Bangsa Room, Jimbaran Campus Rectorate Building. The workshop, which lasted for two days, namely 7 and 8 August 2024, was opened by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs. The workshop participants were 24 student representatives from each faculty.

This worksop presented five speakers, namely Komang Rahayu Indrawati, S.Psi., Psychologist, Dr. NS. Ni Made Dian Sulistyowati, Sp.Kep.J., Ni Luh Indah Desira Swandi, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psychologist, Made Padma Dewi Bajirani, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psychologist and dr. I Gusti Ayu Indah Ardani, Sp.KJ(K). Meanwhile, the material provided includes an introduction to the challenges of campus life, Abnormalities in Adolescences, understanding the role of effective emotional support, caregiver, peer counselor; Psychological First Aid, Special issues and introduction to ULK SOP and self-commitment. The workshop will last for two days, where the first day will include material and there will also be group dynamics until the second day.

Chairman of ULK Komang Rahayu Indrawati in his report said that this activity was the second chapter of the ULK Unud work program. Like last year chapters are classified into several activities. The presence of students in this activity is very important because it will stimulate campus life where not only lecturers but students also have a role.

The students who attended were representatives of study programs and faculties who took the time to take on the role of peer counselors. He hopes that this workshop will have an impact and be meaningful for the students who attend.

Meanwhile the Vice Rector Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana in his speech expressed his appreciation to the participants who had taken the time to take part in this workshop, where in the future things will increasingly occur that will affect mental health both from environmental and societal conditions.

The University and ULK Unud have a huge homework assignment to map mental health at Unud and to ensure that mental health at Unud is good. Of course, students will be more comfortable talking with colleagues, for this reason ULK is recruiting peer counselors as is currently being implemented, with the hope that in the future it can recruit more young counselors from the Udayana University environment.
