EU-Indonesia Synergy Meetup on Clean Hydrogen and Sustainable Cities Held at Udayana University

The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Udayana University (Unud) in collaboration with the Clean Planet Directorate, European Commission and European Union held the "EU-Indonesia Synergy Meetup on Clean Hydrogen and Sustainable Cities" at the Dr. AA Made Djelantik Meeting Room, Faculty of Medicine, Unud, Sudirman Campus, Denpasar, Tuesday (14/5/2024). Present at this activity were the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Unud, Director of the Clean Planet Directorate of the European Commission, Chair of the Bali Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chair and Secretary of LPPM Unud, Faculty and Postgraduate Leaders, BRIDA Representatives, and other guests.

This activity began with a presentation by the EURAXESS ASEAN Team, namely Dr. KRMH Tatas Brotosudarmo who conveyed the Opportunities and Outlook for Strengthening EU-Indonesia Research and Innovation through Horizon Europe Programme. In the material it is explained that EURAXESS is a global network for research, innovators and entrepreneurs which has 43 national portals and 9 worldwide Hubs. It also provides a brief overview of comprehensive platforms and tools for the European research field which include information, research opportunities, career development, support services, communities and networks.

In this activity, a seminar was also held by presenting several experts as resource persons, including Dr. Haznan Abimanyu (Head of the BRIN Energy and Manufacturing Research Organization), Dr. Ir. Hendra Iswahyudi, M.Si (Director of New, Renewable Energy Infrastructure Planning and Development and Energy Conservation, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources), Prof. Ir. Ida Ayu Dwi Giriantari, M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D (CORE LPPM Unud), Piero Venturi (Director Clean Hydrogen Mission of Mission Innovation, European Commission) and Giorgia Rambelli (Director of the Urban Transitions Mission, Global Covenant of Mayors) . And as moderator I Nyoman Satya Kumara, ST,.M.Sc.,Ph.D (Unud).

Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana in his speech said that it was an honor for Udayana University to be the organizer of this meeting. Of course, the topics discussed are very important, one of which is clean hydrogen and this is an opportunity for researchers to become a center for developing research in the field of clean hydrogen. This activity can also initiate future cooperation and for Unud it can strengthen and build collaboration with both the government and the private sector so that close cooperation is built regarding research in realizing net zero emissions. His party also strongly supports research in the field of renewable energy.

Meanwhile, Director of the Clean Planet Directorate of the European Commission, Rosalinde van der Vlies, expressed her appreciation for holding this meeting which was a great opportunity to see how to improve cooperation between the European Union and Indonesia. We can work together to face global problems that will be discussed at this meeting. The European Commission is the world's largest publicly established program related to research and innovation. The European Union is very open to collaborating like in Indonesia and through this meeting they will share information regarding existing programs.
