Udayana University Holds Internal Selection for Indonesian Student Debate Competition (KDMI)

Denpasar - Udayana University (Unud) through the Student Affairs Bureau held the opening of the Internal Selection for the Indonesian Student Debate Competition (KDMI) at the Wiswakarma Hall, Faculty of Engineering Building, Sudirman Campus, Denpasar, Saturday (20/4/2024). The KDMI Internal Selection which took place over two days, namely 20 and 21 April 2024, was opened by the Chair of the Center for Student Creativity and Achievement representing the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Unud.

The Chief Executive of the Activity, Ni Luh Putu Krisnawati, SS., M.Hum, in her report said that this selection was attended by students from 13 Faculties with a total of 72 participants. This internal selection is a requirement for Udayana University to be able to send delegates to the regional level selection and if they pass they can go to the national level. At the regional level it will be divided into three regions and we are under LLDikti Region 8 and have a quota of 6 teams from Bali and NTB who can represent at the national level. From this internal selection, 10 best speakers, 4 best teams and 3 N1s will be obtained. This year N1 is also included in training because at the national level N1 judges are also competing. So this is also equivalent to gold, silver and bronze at the national level.

Later the training that will be carried out will be carried out by the UKM Udayana Debating Society. Each training will have a progress report and will be carried out intensively. He hopes that participants who have committed to taking part in this selection will also commit to taking part in the training that will be provided. Apart from the UKM Udayana Debating Society, there were also judges from Ciputra University. In this selection, participants are required to think critically and be able to provide solutions to existing motions.

Meanwhile, Chair of the Center for Creativity and Student Achievement at Unud, Dr. Drs. I Wayan Santiyasa, M.Si in his speech said that through this Internal Selection, it is hoped that Udayana University will be able to get the best representatives to represent the university both at regional and national levels. It is also hoped that representatives from Unud will be able to fight as well as possible and be able to qualify at regional level. Last year we achieved very good results and hopefully this year we can do even better and win 1st place in both KDMI and NUDC. Participants are expected to be able to take part in the selection as well as possible. Not only enthusiasm is needed but also a spirit of patriotism to continue fighting to defend Udayana University both on the national and international levels.

The implementation of this internal selection began with a technical meeting regarding the debate system and flow presented by the Chairman of the Jury, Joshua Karouw, as well as the division of competition locations. Then proceed with selection in the designated rooms.
