BIPAS Spring Semester at Udayana University, Participated by 72 International Students
Denpasar - The Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University (FIB Unud) held an Opening Ceremony & Orientation Day for the Bali International Program on Asian Studies (BIPAS) Spring Semester 2024, located in the Ir. Soekarno Room Poerbatjaraka Building FIB Denpasar Campus, Monday (12/2/2024). This opening ceremony was opened directly by the Rector of Unud and attended by the Dean and Vice Dean of FIB, KUI Coordinator, BIPAS Program Coordinator, Chief Representative of Asia board and other guests.
BIPAS Program Coordinator Anak Agung Sagung Shanti Sari Dewi in her report said that the number of Spring Semester participants this year was attended by 72 students from Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, the United States, Indonesia and Ghana. This semester BIPAS offers 14 courses in various fields of study, where each student can choose 3 to 7 courses, while the Indonesian language course is mandatory for all students.
"The orientation activities carried out today aim to provide academic information to students and also various things they need to know about Indonesia, especially Bali, Udayana University and the BIPAS Program," said the BIPAS Program Coordinator.
During this orientation, a Campus Tour will also be carried out with three locations to be visited including the Rectorate Building, Library and Widyasabha Auditorium which is centered on the Udayana University campus, Jimbaran. Apart from academic activities, the BIPAS program also organizes workshops on traditional fashion and culinary themes as well as excursion activities.
Chief Representative Officer of Asiaboard, Mr. Hannes Borgwardt on this occasion expressed his thanks to the participants who had taken part in the BIPAS Unud program. Udayana University and Asia Exchange have collaborated for more than fifteen years since 2008, and they support Udayana University to become a world class university. Mr Hannes hopes that the BIPAS program can add experience to participants from various countries.
Dean of FIB Unud I Nyoman Aryawibawa, Ph.D in his speech gave a brief overview of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) which historically was the forerunner of Udayana University. FIB currently has 8 undergraduate programs (S1) and one of the study programs, namely Ancient Javanese, is the only one in Indonesia. Besides that, it also has 4 postgraduate programs. BIPAS itself is an international program at Udayana University which is managed by the Faculty of Cultural Sciences. Through this opportunity, the Dean also thanked the participants for choosing BIPAS as a place to increase their academic experience.
Meanwhile, the Rector of Unud, Prof. Ngakan Putu Gede Suardana expressed his pride at Udayana University which has an international program such as BIPAS which has opened up opportunities for international students to experience the academic atmosphere at Unud, especially in the fields of tourism, economics and business, law, entrepreneurship, communication, sociology and culture. BIPAS is one of the most favorite international study programs supported by lecturers with diverse international backgrounds with undoubted quality in their fields. Over the last few years, Udayana University has begun to build various infrastructure and improve the quality of human resources to support the upcoming challenges to gain global recognition.
"The international program at Udayana University, including BIPAS, is at the forefront which allows us to interact directly with global academics, namely international students," said the Rector.
