Udayana University Receives Research Visit from the University of Melbourne

Rector of Udayana University (Unud), Prof. Ngakan Putu Gede Suardana accompanied by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Ketut Sudarsana received a special visit from a delegation of University of Melbourne (UniMelb) researchers, led by Prof. Priyan Mendis and Ms. Maharti took place at the Jimbaran Campus Rectorate Building, Monday (22/1/2024).

UniMelb is a leading educational institution ranked first in Australia and 14th in the QS World University Rankings, marking an important step in international academic relations. In this meeting, the Rector of Unud expressed his high appreciation for the collaborative initiatives that had been built. The Rector emphasized the importance of continued collaboration, considering Unud's great potential which is supported by 13 faculties and 1 postgraduate program.

Prof. Mendis, who has expertise in infrastructure engineering and serves as Chair of the Structural Design Firm Civil and Structural Engineering, has collaborated with well-known universities in Indonesia, including the University of Indonesia, Bandung Institute of Technology, Gadjah Mada University, Airlangga University, Hasanuddin University, and Petra Christian University Surabaya.

This collaboration is not the first, as recorded in the history of collaboration between the two institutions, which began when Prof. Sudarsana and Dr. Adi Susila (Unud) with Prof. Mendis jointly researched building structures after the first Bali bomb attack in 2002. It is hoped that this collaboration will continue to develop, increasing the quantity and quality of research and publications, as expected by the Chair of JUPI Unud, Candra Darmayanthi, PhD., who was also present at the event. the meeting.

Prof. Winaya, in his statement, marked the beginning of 2024 as a new era of collaboration between UniMelb and Unud. The real results of this collaboration have been manifested in the "Conference and Exhibition on Bali Ocean Days", held on January 19-20. This conference, which discusses the theme "Collective Intelligence to Engineer a Sustainable Future", is an important milestone in collective efforts to create a more sustainable future, based on collective intelligence. Also present at this meeting was the Coordinator of the Civil Engineering Undergraduate Study Program, Ida Ayu Made Budiwati, PhD.
