Faculty of Tourism Unud Receives Visit from UGM Master of Tourism Studies Program, Discusses Collaboration Opportunities
Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Faculty of Tourism, Udayana University (Unud) accompanied by the Domestic Cooperation Division, and Head of the Unud Tourism Studies Master's Study Program received a guest visit from the Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Masters in Tourism Studies Study Program, located in the Postgraduate Building, Sudirman Campus Unud, Tuesday (05/12/2023). The UGM delegation consisted of the Coordinator of the Tourism Studies Master's Study Program, Dr. Dyah Widyastuti; and two of their lecturers who wanted to take sit-in lectures at the Master of Tourism Studies at Unud.
The purpose of this visit is to strengthen the cooperation that has been established between the two institutions. "A year ago we agreed with PKS. Hopefully next year we can start more concrete implementation such as research and publication collaboration," said Dr. Dyah in her initial remarks.
As the only Tourism Faculty at PTN, UGM views collaboration with Unud Tourism as a priority. He admitted that it was not easy to bring all tourism study programs into one faculty. "This process is not easy. Even though UGM has a Tourism Study Program at all levels, until now we have not been able to direct it into one faculty umbrella," explained Prof. Janianton Damanik.
In the discussion several research and publication collaboration opportunities that were most likely to be worked on in the future were discussed. One of them is the RKA Dikti research scheme collaboration. UGM has previously successfully implemented this with 3 universities in Indonesia. Next, this can be done with the Unud Faculty of Tourism.
Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Tourism, Nyoman Sukma Arida, welcomed the visit of the UGM Master of Tourism Studies group in order to strengthen future cooperation. "UGM is our strategic partner. Many lecturers at the Unud Faculty of Tourism are UGM alumni and this can be the initial basis for carrying out concrete cooperation in the future. Bali tourism also requires constructive thoughts from all academics, including UGM," he said.
