Improving Professionalism, 13 Librarians of Udayana University Library Participate in Librarian Competency Certification

Library of Udayana University (Unud) Implements Librarian Competency Certification by bringing in a Team of Assessors from the Librarian Professional Certification Institute (LSP), Wednesday—Friday, 15—17 November 2023 at the Central Library Computer Lab. The Assessor Team consists of Competency Assessors, namely Titiek Kismiyati, Luthfiati Makarim, and Novatriyanti. The License Assessors are Indra Astuti, and Fadia Sunaki as members of the general section.

Head of Udayana University Library, Dr. Ida Ayu Laksmita Sari revealed that this competency certification activity was the first activity carried out at the Library of Udayana University. This activity was also held to support library accreditation assessment points, especially in standard 4.

Librarian competency certification is an important step in ensuring that Udayana University library staff have the qualifications and skills needed to provide quality services. This is a proactive step that will have a positive impact on library development and improve the quality of collection management and services to users.

Chair of the LSP Librarian Endang Ernawati in this case was represented by the Head of the Certification Division, Opong Sumiati, who was present virtually in her speech, explaining that the Competency Certificate was a sign that a librarian was a professional in the field of librarianship, especially in the cluster field she was participating in.

One of the assessors, Titiek Kismiyati, revealed that Udayana University is one of several universities in Indonesia which enthusiastically organizes independent librarian certification. Hopefully, Udayana University will become an example for other universities, especially universities in Bali, in implementing Librarian Competency Certification.

The thirteen Udayana University librarians who took part in this certification have prepared themselves well according to the competency clusters taken, namely basic library services, subject cataloging and collection development.
