The Learning Development and Quality Assurance Institute (LP3M) of Udayana University (Unud) held a Dissemination of Higher Education SPM Policy and Design of Higher Education SPMI in the context of the Udayana University Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) Developed Study Program. The dissemination event took place for three days starting from 11 to 13 October 2023, at the Prama Sanur Hotel, Denpasar, which was opened by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gede Rai Maya Temaja, MP., IPU.
Chief executive Prof. Dr. Ir. I Made Alit, employee of Salain, DEA, in his report said that Udayana University is one of the tertiary institutions that through selection has been appointed to implement study programs under the quality assurance system of the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs, Directorate General of Higher Education. This activity is carried out for universities based on an assessment from the Ministry whose quality assurance process or implementation is considered not yet optimal, and thus requires assistance.
The second day was filled with an overview of the implementation of SPMI in universities and on the third day good implementation practices were carried out, especially at Udayana University. Participants who took part in this dissemination activity came from four universities with a total of 18 participants, 6 people from the Kupang College of Management Science, 2 people from the Oemathonis College of Economics, 7 people from the NTT 1945 Teachers Association University, and 3 people from the University Tomohon Indonesian Christians.
It is hoped that participants can take this event seriously, so that later they can improve the quality of implementation of the internal quality assurance system in each university.
Meanwhile the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Rai Maya Temaja on this occasion hopes that from the four developed study programs, they will be able to benefit from the presentations given by the speakers. "The most important thing in our seriousness in providing higher education is guaranteeing academic quality, where this quality is something promised by universities or service providers in accordance with what is expected by stakeholders, especially parties who have an interest in the output or results of our higher education," he said.
So the quality of higher education is measured by how far the university can meet the needs of society and how far the promise is fulfilled by the university.
The quality of higher education is the level of conformity between the implementation of higher education and higher education standards consisting of national higher education standards, higher education standards determined by each in accordance with Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education Regulation Number 62 of 2016 concerning SPMI.
Prof. Rai hopes that participants from the four universities involved in this activity at Udayana University can follow diligently and take advantage of what was conveyed by the facilitator to develop a quality assurance system in each university, so that we are on the path to a culture of quality, namely give confidence to the community to entrust their sons and daughters to pursue higher education at their respective campuses.
